If we are going to go beatles and say they are the best because they started rock then we need to change that. If we are calling them the best because they started it then I guess Buddy Holly is the best ever.

people people...its so simple...LED ZEPPELIN, think about it u idiots, they had the greatest album ever (IV) and the greatest song ever (stairway) and no1 can ever come close to their instrumental skills. Page is the greatest guitarist of all time and an incredible revolutionary in studio recording, and john bonham is by far the greatest rock drummer of all time.

Bonham is a great drummer, but not the best. By far the best rock drummer of all time is Peart, no question. anyone who thinks otherwise is a dillhole. I do agree that page does not get enough credit for as good as a player as he is, but I don`t know if you can call him the best.

I AM SORRY, but how could you not rate the doors as numero uno? Ok, that might have been going a little far, but the 5 legendary rock bands are generally considered (in order), the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppellin, Pink Floyd, and The Doors. Notice how the doors are the only American band... they deserve a little more credit from you people, don`t they? And by the way: "LIGHT MY FIRE" can blow away any other song from that golden era of rock. Jim Morrison lives on...

Hey clarinetist girl, Good Charlotte sucks. and so does linkin park. how could u even compare them to Led Zepelin or the Beatles. Good Charlotte is a fake Hollywood punk band, unlike the Ramones. Linkin park is techno/alternative rock. Anywho, both bands are no where near as good as the who or van halen. you should be sho for your horrible musical theories. may the rock gods have mercy on your soul.

I like hoobastank, but they aren`t the best. I guess I will say Nirvana, though they weren`t the best, they had potential to be.

I can`t believe it, someone actually voted for the beatles, when in the guy opened this thread said not to include them, so sad. Plus they are not as good as they were thought to be, and if you are just voting for them because they so-called are the ones who started rock look at the response thinkaboutit-wrok. I like there thinking. Of all time I would say Aerosmith, BOC, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, and Rush. Bands that are just coming out that over time are going to give them a run for there money, The Darkness and The Hives.

The Jimi Hendrix Experiance:Thought they were a band I dont believe they had the same synergy as the top three. Definitly the best guitarist of all time with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Brian May following. (Hendrix had his name spelled Jimi, not Jimmy you evil people who spell it wrong.)

Queen:Speaking of Brian May. Queen is a great band, unleashing a fusion of opera and rock. Just terrific.

Pink Floyd:The best space rock band ever. Brought the world of psychedelia to us. The Wall is just a great album,and Dark Side is awesome too. Another Brick in the Wall part 2, Time, Money, Us and Them and Echoes are a must have. I have a poster for The Wall on my wall.

The Doors: Such great songs such as Break on Through, The Crystal Ship and Light My Fire

Metallica: Overated bunch of rednecks.

Tool: They`re okay but you have to be a creepy computer nerd who never leaves his precious computer, for fear that Klingons will come to use his computer and crash the U.S.S Enterprise on his saved game in Shatner difficulty, to listen to this all the time.

Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden: Just to heavy for my liking

Thats my opionion so if you dont like it write a letter to Santa and ask for an open mind. I dont care if you like listening to rap (oh ya rap sucks) or angry white boys, so you shouldnt care if I listen to groovy music, okey dokee.
