What's up? This question has been bugging me for a while. Just give me your opinion. Who is a better drummer? Neil Peart, from RUSH, or Travis Barker of Blink 182? I say it's obvious that the answer is Neil Peart, because he's god of all drummers. Just give me your opinion.
THANK YOU! I've been saying that for a long time, but most people think he's just that he's good because he was on that stupid boost mobile commercial.NEIL PEART CAN DESTROY TRAVIS IN A DRUM OFF ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, EVEN IF HE'S TWICE HIS AGE! RUSH RULES!
Well, for sake of rating each, Peart and Barker are both excellent in their own styles. Peart is more of the precision technician with the skill and approach of a well trained drum and bugle corps drummer, using accurate and clean rudiments and implimenting versatile dynamics. Barker is more of the "play by feel" or "in the groove" kind of player. Both have good attributes that can be used in many styles of music.
Billy Cobham, Omar Hakim and Manu Katchi are probably some of the better “by feel” players in comparison with Barker whereas someone like Buddy Rich or Liberty DeVitto are more the technical types to compare with Peart. All are excellent in their own element. Peart said it all when in 1994 he produced the tribute album to Buddy Baker " Burning for Buddy: A Tribute to the Music of Buddy Rich". All in all, Peart was probably the worst performer on the album. It just goes to show you.....sometimes you're great.....sometimes you're not. Even if Peart's performance was good, the others on the album were even better.
