My great love is groove metal really... I have to love it. I've been in to it for many, many years.
I guess Pantera fits in to that category here and there, but I'm referring to bands like Zoroaster, Kyuss, and similar sounds.

Not many people seem to be in to it around here. It's weird. Such an under rated sub-genre of metal...

Well, I'm mostly listen to symphonic, gothic, folk, death metal. I think I don't really know, what groove metal is. Please give me three songs I should really listen to.

Well, the relevance of defining categories depends on many things. for my roommates I only told, that I'm listening to metal. For my parents too. They don't have any idea, what is the difference between folk metal or death metal. They don't even know they exist. As we can't see UV light, we don't give names to the different frequencies, although some animals can see the difference.

On the other hand, if two person meets, who understand a little about drinks, it is worht to make difference between whisky and whiskey, although, for most of the people it doesn't really matter.

The other thing is, that clustering should always be handled with an appropriate carefulness. If I ask somebody, whether He/She knows Trans Siberien Orchestra, and the answer is no, together with a question about a genre, then I always say "Metal Musical". I don't know if it is the "official" genre, but these words makes me the closest feeling about that music. Describing the style in more detail won't be worth enough to waste words on it.

So, anyway, which song do You suggest me to listen and get addicted to groove metal?

I just use the "sub categories" to sort out file folders in my brain. Certain metal sounds way different than other metal.

Zoroaster

Kyuss

Those are my top two bands. You can find more of their stuff in the related videos section.

I do prefer old school black metal and goth metal... but this kind of music is in my blood.
Well groove metal is metal that sounds... groovy!
I categorize my metal as to how it sounds to me, and how it appears on a more technical note.

Thank You very much for the links. I listened to them, but for a moment it seems, they do not fit my taste. But I was like this with Dark Tranquility too, and now it is one of the favourites.
