Clearly these choices are just personal preferences, These are my favorite:

Vocals: Robert Plante, Freddy Mercury, Stevie knicks
guitar: David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) Jimmy Page ( white summer is amazing and original!)
bass: Roger waters( Pink Floyd)
drums: John Henry Bonham, pretty much the soul of Zep in my opinion, also Moby Dick is.... well simply nuts

i am a drummer and i think if i was to choose a band i would choose:

Vocalist:freddy mercury definetly
guitarist:jimmy page,joey jordison from murder dolls,or randy roads (R.I.P.)
Bass:Geddy Lee
Drummer:joey jordison from slipknot, john bonham, mike portnoy,or neil peart
oh yeah, and johnny and niel and portnoy are all different and they had different kits it is no reason to fight about it

slipknot is awesome    19:06 on Monday, June 6, 2005

i think slipknots percussion is pretty creative, and if anybody has not listened to them you should, 9 people in the band and three drummers.
joey jordison: main kit
shawn "clown": custom percussion
chris: custom percussion
i love rock and hate rap but jazz drummers are awesome too.and pink floyd is really good.

I just cant belive people are calling Eric clapton to the call on Guitar players. Yes, he is good ... but to consider him the best guitar player ever would just make me feel wrong !

Vocals - Serj (system of a down) operatic to screaming, this guys amazing

Guitar - Tony Iommi, the most underrated guitarist ever, he invented a genre and he WAS black sabbath

Drums - this is hard but Danny Carey(tool), Neil Peart, and Travis Barker are all great

Bass - Geezer Butler, bass is about timing and where its used, noone did it like this guy.

Has anyone stated Jack Black? He is a phenomenal singer! The lyrics he writes are original and funnier than any i`ve ever heard before. KG a great guitar player as well. Absolutly great with his accoustic. Dave Grohl has hardly been mentioned at all!! Why the hell not? He sings, drums and plays guitar! If only there were four of him, then he could have his own perfect rock band.

I like progressive, really technical, music. I think it`s the hardest to play and therefore I would call them the best player. I have seen many great names have not been named here. My favorites:

Vocals: Daniel Gildenlow (Pain Of Salvation), Russell Allen (Symphony X)
Guitar: Michael Romeo (Symphony X), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Paul Gilbert (Racer X)
Bass: John Myung (Dream Theater)
Keyboard: Richard Andersson (Space Odyssey, Time Requiem), Derek Sherinian (Planet X, ex-Dream Theater)
Drums: Virgil Donati (Planet X), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)

Check out Virgil Donati`s arts before you chose another drummer. This guy was born to drum. On his website there are several video`s! Michael Romeo is not only a a supreme guitar player, he`s also a great classical composer. John Myung is simply the most talented technical bass player. Daniel Gildenlow is a great songwriter with an excellent voice, check out his group Pain Of Salvation. As keyboard player I would say Richard Andersson, as he`s the most virtuose.

The best band is Rush. Neil Peart is the graest drummer watch O Baterista. Geddy Lee is also crazy on bass listen to The Big Money or La Villa Stangiato. And last but not least Alex Lifeson is the most creative espicially on the wammy bar.

You have to agree
