Vocal - Maynard James
Guitar - Steve Vai
Bass - Flea
Drummer -Danny Carey

Not that a band formed with those 4 (except the Maynard/Carey combo) would be particularly impressive, I`m basing this purely on technical ability.

vocalist- robert plant, roger daltery, anyone who put an enormous amount of soul into there voice
Guitarist- jimmy page, hendrix, really depends on what type of music they`re playing( i dought clapton could play purple or megadeth but then that apllys to all of them but there are a lot more guiatarists to choose from)
bassist- can only be john entwistle, beats geddy lee any day
Drummer- Bonzo, mitch mitchell, could be keith moon but i imagine it would have been hard to work with him

I`d have to disagree with the guitarist on most of them

Vocals- Freddie or Plant
Guitarist- No one touches Clapton
Bass- McCartney or Geddy Lee
Drummer- No Question...Neil Peart

alright lets have it go like this folks.... hmmm well you`d have to have your favorites from a certain genre in order to actually have it make sense but if your just going to have a super band lets go with...

Vocals, Kurt Cobain, not guitar, vocals.

Guitar - Malmsteen, cause how many guys do you know that can sweep pick? pff, not hendrix, not page.

Bass - John Entwistle, from the Who, he`s like John Paul Jones, just stands in the corner and preforms, but he`s better than Jones... (and definetely not flea, he`s not good)

Drums - Keith Moon. Screw Neil Peart, Moon was simply better. and if Ginger Baker wasn`t so messed up all the time, I`d say him...

now if I need to write a few changes...well the only one I`d make would be possibly switching Jack Bruce for John Entwistle, I like Bruce`s Voice better, but Entwistle was faster.

Keeping in mind that the list is for Best ROCK musicians here is the list of whom personify Rock Music in each category .. for me

Vocals : 1) Freddy Mercury
2) Steve Perry (Journey)
3) Paul Stanley (didn`t thought about him before I read one post, okay I just like him)
4) Klaus Meine (Scorpions) (gotta have rock ballads hey!)

Guitars : 1) Zack Wylde (got to love the stage presence)
2) David Gilmour (underrated by most. If you want melody over noise)
3) Satriani/Malmstein/Vai/Van Halen/DimeBag, Maiden`s Duo (A tribute to shredders)
4) Alex Lifeson (Okay I admit it, I`m a rush fan)
others considered (Clapton, Stevie Ray (Da best but not Rock), Paige, Blackmore, McLaughlin (mahavishnu) ... just too many great ones.

Bass : 1) Geddy Lee (for what he bring to the songs)
2) Les Claypool (he`s just damn good)
others considered (Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Steve Harris, Flea, McCartney, Chris Squire, Mike Rutherford, and many more)

Drums : 1) Neil Peart (top on my list)
2) Cozy Powell
3) Billy Cobham
other considered (Bruford, Bonham, and many more).

For Live performance Here are my choices

Vocals : Freddy Mercury (Peter Gabriel close second)
Guitar : Zakk Wylde (Angus Young, redondant but fun to watch.. the energizer bunny!)
Bass : Steve Harris (Flea close second)
Drums : Bonham (also Pat Benatar`s drummer, for Stage presence)

Throw in Keith Emerson on the keys and the Sweedish Bikini team to open and I camp out of the door for tickets.

JB

P.S.: What`s the hype with Duff McKeagan on Bass? Did he do something that stands out for crying out loud! Why not the guy from Bon Jovi for the opening of Living on a prayer...Hey I heard Bass, he must be good! gees!

Guitarist - Why i didnt see Steve Vai more on this list is a mystery to me. Jimi - Stevie - Eric - Buddy Guy (and i saw some people say things like, well Eric is good but he probably cant play Rock or fast metal, get over it kids, metal aint the hardest genre any of these guys can read sheet music)

Vocals - i like geddy lee, axl , mr mercury , robert plant (to the guy who said kurt cobain, there is a mac3 turbo blade that has your name on it, take it to the wrist idmediatly it must have been the crack you smoked or something no one sober would ever suggest that)

Bass - I like les claypool as much as the next guy, but my top two a deaf man could point out *Jaco Pastorius *Victor Wooten (put up any metal or Rock name and those two would rip them a new asshole, lemme know what you think)

Drummer - OK OK, this section is the real reason you hear anything from me lets do this. saw some good names, john bohnam, awesome drummer, neal peart he is certainly amazing , Keith Moon a true innovator but how close minded can some of you people be ask either of those drummers who one of their favorites is who they studied for hours on end, ask any drummer today for that fact, 9 times out of 10 Buddy Rich is gonna come out of their mouth faaghettaboutit. You people are CRAZY

This was a fun list i enjoyed it, saw some names i never knew, looked em up some sucked, some were awesome but look mine over listen to multiple songs as i did, solo performances and gimme feedback. I think i cheated to be honest, i think this is some Metal fag dream list or something, people looked over raw talent and ability or somethin.
and again kurt cobain, ARE YOU JOKING ME - everyone is laughing at those of you who picked him as best vocalist, friggin emo kids i swear they are gonna over take our wonderful world someday.

Kurt Cobain is to Rock singers what Ringo Starr is to Rock Drummers...

I have to be honest though, they are better at their craft that I would if I tried... well not sure about Ringo.

JB

P.S.: To John; Jaco and Vic Wooten are on a class of their own (with Michael Manring) but I haven`t mention them since I went for Rock instead of overall player. Those who haven`t listen to Manring should, period. But he`s not into Rock (that much). Gary Willis of Tribal Tech is also a great one.
