Um...B Bob
Nobody is gonna jump me you idiot, and if they did, they would probably die quickly. Neil sucks ass on drums, SUCKS ASS. If anything, i would drum circles around him you tard. John Longstreth is the best drummer this world has ever seen, Neil would die from a heart attack before he finished 1/4 of a John Longstreth song.

i have to say that carter beauford of the dave matthews band and danney carrey from tool are the best drummers. For guitarists i have to go with my buddy clapton. For bassist victor wooten. Vocals Maynard james keenan for tool.

I must agree with B bob that this what!? guy is a f!@#tard and he should not leave opinions on this subject at all! Even if you think some other guy is better, there`s NO WAY IN HELL you can say Neil Peart sucks ass. WTF is wrong with you!!??

If you haven`t heard Neil play his drums in "O Baterista", then you`d better reconsider leaving him out of your list.

FYI, O Baterista (Neil Peart on drums) has earned a Grammy nomination for best rock instrumental performance and deserves to win it too!

Vocals: Freddie Mercury of Queen, best voice hands down of any classic rock group

Lead Guitar: Jimi Hendrix. The man was genius.

Bassist: John Entwistle of the Who has always been my favorite.

Drummer: Neil Peart. His playing and lyrics combined make him the best.

Come on, guys.

Roger Daltry best vocalist?? For cryin` out loud (which is what he mostly did) the guy broke more notes than he ever hit, and yelled more than he ever sang.

The Doors (Jim Morrison)? I don`t think so. He had a seductive sound, but best vocalist has to go to someone who is a powerful, projecting singer with superb melodic control and a range that competes with other top notch singers way better than Jim.

Stevie Ray Vaughn best rock guitar?? He wasn`t even a ROCK guitarist. This is not about blues... Hendrix, Clapton? Certainly both more than accomplished, but not the best. In fact, I considered Hendrix to lack some of the versatility Clapton has. Hendrix sounded the same on everything he did. Clapton could play in a variety of styles. Still not the best. Mark Knopfler?? Best ROCK guitarist? Sheesh...

John Entwistle, best bass guitarist?? If he was, he would have needed a band better than The Who to show it off. John was a great bass player, but far from best, like his other band mates.

Here`s the deal--

Drummer: Anyone who doesn`t think Peart is the best drummer EVER is simply not listening or has not heard him. I am NOT even a Rush fan, mostly because I can`t stand to listen to Geddy`s vocals. In my nearly 3 decades of live entertainment, I have heard no equal to Peart on drums, and next to him anyone else would be a distant contender, frankly regardless of genre.

Best Bass?: Who cares.. uh.. I mean probably Geddy Lee.

Rock Guitarist: This is a tough one, because rock guitar is such a widely diverse art, and there are many different sub-genres within rock, all driven in large part by guitar. Many of those require different styles of guitar.

That said, Best all-around fast-fingers hard rock guitar in my book is Eddie Van Halen. His songs were "juvenile" you say? He`s "over-rated" you say? Maybe, but he managed to procure a level of acclaim like none other, and we`re not talking about best songwriter-- just best rock guitarist. Van Halen were the epitome of the rock party band, and they were truly a phenomenon.

Yes, there are perhaps speed metal lead guitarists that were/are faster, but not BETTER or more melodic than Eddie. As fast as he was, he NEVER sacrificed quality for speed, and he didn`t spend all his time copying licks from other guitarists, though many have since copied him. He also originated more licks than a lot of people realize-- some that OTHERS made famous.

Best OVERALL rock guitarist in terms of versatility is probably Steve Vai, though Randy Rhodes and Satrani are close seconds.

Best Keyboardist? Tough one. Keith Emerson (Emerson Lake & Palmer), Elton John, Billy Powell (Skynyrd), Dennis DeYoung (Styx) would be my top choices. If I chose one more it would be Bob Mayo (Frampton).

Best Vocalist: Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury, Brad Delp and Jimmy Jamison would probably top the list, but in that order. I also feel almost that strongly about Dennis DeYoung, though I will discount that as bias, since I am the lead vocalist in a Styx tribute show, and it is my job to recreate both his and Tommy`s every nuance vocally. So you might say I have a more detailed appreciation for Dennis` voice than others might.

I can`t believe I`m bored enough to reply to unfounded non-musician opinion. Neil Peart is not the greatest rock drummer, he simply performs songs in verbatim, imitating studio tracks live. Peart`s beats, fills, and solos are as hackneyed to his fans as they are to himself. Peart lacks the essential qualities of musical greatness: simpatico and improvisation. Simpatico is sensitivity to your fellow band-mates, knowing when and not to play, as in knowing how to compliment a soloist with dynamics rather than self-indulgent fills. John Bonham possessed simpatico (listen to live cuts of "Dazed and Confused") and knew how to improvise with jazz-like ease (listen to live renditions of "Moby Dick," "Since I`ve Been Loving You," and "I Can`t Quit You Baby" and hear the multi-textural beats and rhythms that have eluded Neil Peart in his drumming career). If anyone wishes to hear Neil Peart as a versatilely sensitive improvisational percussionist, just listen to Mahavishnu Orchestra`s Billy Cobham, he was the consummate drummer when Peart was practicing 4/4 rudiments in his parents` basement.
