New Wind Ensemble Composition

You cordially invited to attend the world premiere by the University of Delaware Wind Ensemble of Sy Brandon’s composition "The First State". This three movement composition is a musical portrait of Delaware up until its being the first state to ratify the constitution. The work is in three movements:

I. Stewards of the Land
II. Settlement and Conflict
III. Forging A Nation

The concert will be held Sunday, March 19, 2006 at 8:00 P.M. in the Loudis Recital Hall, Amy E. du Pont Music Building, Amstel Avenue and Orchard Road, Newark, DE.

You are also invited to apply for a Next Hearing Grant from Co-op Press in order to have the honor of the next performance of "The First State". The grant covers the cost of the music and expenses for having Sy Brandon in attendance at your performance. The grant also includes residency activities by the composer.
