There are so many, from Bach and Handel, through Mozart and Beethoven, Wagner and R.Strauss, Debussy and Faure, Shostakovitch and Prokovief, to Adams and Andriesen.
But ultimately, I never travel without some Satie, both piano and orchestral, so I guess he's my favorite...

It's a toss up between
Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.
My favorite pieces are
Tchaikovsky's Chinese Dance
from the Nutcracker Suite,
and Beethoven's Für Elise.

For the piano: Chopin, Grieg, Tchaikovsky - the "Romantics". For the flute: Delius, French impressionists. I'm not keen on Bach on the keyboard (too dry) but I love his choral works.

I know I've posted before saying I like Claude Debussy, but now I have also realised that I LOVE Michael Nyman - especially My Hearts Asks Pleasure First...and if anyone has the sheet music to that and wouldn't mind sending it to me ( =p ) then please tell me at lydcialis@hotmail.com
Thanks! But yeah - I love Michael Nyman (and still Claude Debussy of course! Love Lydia XxXOoO

Here's my top 3 composers...
1. Saint Saens
Especially his Allegro Appassionato Op.43...played it for a concert a few years ago...
2. Schubert
My first concert piece was by him...
3. Ravel
His contemporary (I know...most of my favourite composers aren't classical) music is so fascinating...kinda like a evil-ish (?) version of a really long Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...lol

Definitely Johann Sebastian Bach...one can listen to his fugues an infinite amount of times and still appreciate the beauty and complexity of his pieces.

My favourite is definatly Igor Stravinskij, mainly because im right now am studying instrumentation, and he is absolutly brilliant when it comes to that! I also like Shostacovich, Debussy, Ravel. And also Swedish composers like Tubin, Alfven, Atterberg, aso But i never say now to Bach or Beethoven. One i dont like is Mozart, and i know this will awake reactions! But i think he is extremely overrated! please write me and say wath yuo think!

I know he's not classical, but my favourite complser is Scott Joplin with his great rag music such as The Entertainer. If i had to pick my favourite classical, it would definately be Beethoven, for his 5th symphony and others.
