Hey! I was just wondering how the professional saxists produce such a beautiful sound. Im 16 yrs old and have been playing alot saxophone for about 5 years now. Is there any special mouthpiece up for purchase or whatnot? Can somebody please help me out?? Thank you for your time

First off you
a) practice
b) Kenny G. plays Soprano so alto won`t cut it
c) waste your money on expencive reads, mouthpieces, and ligatures if that makes you feel better.

There are inumerous excersises for the sound such as: Overtones, Long Notes, Playing just the Mouthpiece, etc. But most important the Sound has to be in your brain and in yor heart.
You can buy all that equipment for a little under $3,000 and still sound horrible. Remember, there`s a lot of studio sound enhancements in the music as well. If you want to get somewhat close to the sound, you can buy a jazz mouthpiece that`s made for a "bright" sound and practice controlling the tone.

Get a decent sax, like a yanagisawa or a monique, moniques are some of the best saxes out there, get a decent mouthpeice. Really you need proffesional model equipment, THEN you can go for the sound you want....But kenny G sucks...I am trying to figure Getz`s tone out and can`t get it except on some bossa nova tunes.

To produce a good sound the key is to work on your sound every day for at least 4hrs. Also try different settings on mouthpieces and sax. Remember that every sax is different. Some Selmer Mark VI are excellent horns and some of the have the worst intonation I ever heard.

First off, get a soprano sax. Right now I play alto and bari. I have a tenor lined up that a guy is going to give me and i am saving up for a soprano. anyway
first off GET A SOPRANO SAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1) Practice
2) Get a decent mouth piece
3) Get a good reed and make sure it is mounted properly on your mouth piece. also, make sure the ligature isnt too tight cause that can ruin your reed.
4) Get some Kenny G CDs and listen to them, you`ll get it. Also make sure you hear it in your heart.
