Alesis ADAT HD24XR 24-Track Digital Hard Disk Recorder
Alesis ADAT HD24XR 24-Track Digital Hard Disk Recorder ReviewsAlesis ADAT HD24XR 24-Track Digital Hard Disk Recorder Sample ReviewFeature:I'm so glad I didn't have to pay extra for 24 analog inputs and outputs. I do use the Ethernet port, but I wish it was faster. Unfortunately, the manual I have is written for Windows 98. I certainly don't use that version anymore. I'll probably get the Firewire adapter eventually. The fact that it uses standard IDE hard-drives is awesome. Friggin' awesome. Quality: Rock solid. I have no worries. Had it for a year with no problems. Value: I am extremely annoyed that the price has come down in the last year since I bought it. Also, they're offering that free firewire port again, which wasn't available at the time I purchased the HD24XR. So, basically, it's an awesome value right now. Sucks for me. Desirability: Couldn't live without it. I did shop around quite a bit before hand, and this is the best for the money, as far as I'm concerned. Sound: I have little extended experience with anything else, but this thing records and plays back faithfully. I've actually stopped using 96khz mode because 48khz sounds excellent. Support: The manual is not bad, but its complete lack of Windows XP networking instructions has been annoying. I'm sure the networking problems I've had have more to do with guessing about how to make the thing work in XP than anything else. Overall: I'm expecting to be using this thing ten years from now. |
