Tascam DP01 8-Track Hard Disk Recorder Sample Review

Feature:
Lacks an XLR input. Shame on Tascam!

Quality:
I'm sending it back for another one since 90% of the time it won't record when I hit a track to record with. Also, the buttons make loud clicks and this is easily picked up by the mic.

Value:
Price is low if unit worked as it should.

Desirability:
Blue color is so so.

Sound:
I am surpised that it does not have the clarity and power of my old Sony DAT deck. Not even close.

Support:
For two days I've tried and couldn't get through to Tascam's user support. Seller says this is typical.

Overall:
Most of my high end tape decks sound better with a decent preamp. So far I'm not impressed at all.
