It actually reminds me of Bernard Herrmann's score for "Psycho", especially the softer parts.

SailorVI think it would best fit the soundtrack for Romeo and Juliet.

SnorkelPizz stands for Pizzicato, a technique in which the strings of a violin, viola, cello, or bass are plucked, giving a softer, more round sound than a guitar or other string instrument. I still have yet to find Pizziola in the dictionary.
It is a little rough though; I was listening to most of my recordings and they all seem to be a bit rough around the edges. I should probably smooth things out, re-record them then resubmit them. For some reason it sounded better in Sibelius, but once I recorded it it took a dive.
I know it sounds like I'm being argumentative (which I'm usually not), but trust me, your feedback is appreciated and it helps me to analyze my style in a different way.

MozarteressOk! It's difidently a movie opening piece, Alfred Hichcock would have loved it! Unfortunatly it has been composed about thirty years too late. it's a great movie piece but honestly, no wonder most of the comments are negative, it's to old fashind. But I like it and it made me think of a movie alright!

SailorVWhat does the pizz mean? It sounds like a pizziola, a stringed instrument that makes a stacotto sound.

SailorVOK. What movie do you think this piece would be most suitable for?

SnorkelYou missed it then lol.
If I had a movie to put wth the score then it would make sense. The "clashing" or use of tension would help portray the feeling of what people would be seeing; this technique of creating slight dissonance is a very old and common one that can be used in a multitude of situations. There being no distinct melody in the beginning is also an unfortunate side effect of composing to what I see in my head; however, melodies are overrated in the sense that they help take away from the simple truth that music is very subjective and can be used in infinite ways to portray different aspects of expression, one of these ways being amelodically.
Pizziola? Is that a word?

SailorVTo be honest, I don't think this is your best piece. At the beginning it felt like the strings were really clashing and running together, so i couldn't find a clear, distinct melody. And then, when it got to the pizziola, it almost became comical. But I did really like from measure 112 on to the last bar.
