CubbyWell... i've had this discussion a milion times. It sounds a bit odd at first, but sound alone has more to music than all the mighty classical theory

I've heard your composition and NO, it's not bad... it only lacks sound and what classics would call orchestration
The classic approach is: "Imagine" the music, write it down, and let some other guys play it. Well we all have our personal symphonic orchestra in the back yard, right...

So we amateurs are left with two options: either use Notation software and MIDI,
or (my weapon of choice) Software samplers & synthesizers to give some more life to the notes. There's been a lot of progress there.
Bottom line: The feeling of actually hearing the tones you play (by hand) with all the richness of sound in real-time, is a feeling i wouldn't trade for anything

And having control over expression and sound properties... i can live with the few problems of digital audio
