Hi hi everyone!
I’m Lisa Khauu. I’m Chinese, 14 years old, and I go to CHS in Commerce, Texas. Freshman, babyy. Haha. I’m in the Sound of Pride Band [there are about 60 people? – We’re a 3A school; not that big], and I play in the Pit. It’s awesome. We’re awesome. =D lol. This is my first year playing percussion mallets. I started on July 30th, and I’ve played the marimba and bells so far. Ehh, it’s okay. I mean … marching season is about to be over, and our marching show was The Planets: Mars, Venus, and Jupiter. I liked learning the new piece and new instrument[s]. It was fun; very enjoyable! =] Thing is, I never expected myself to learn an instrument that quickly and notice the change now since July. I feel so accomplished.

Our band is awesomeness. The first contest, we made a 2 … which is good b/c it doesn’t make us big headed, and it gives us something to improve on. Next contest, I thought we did much better, even though there were about several people missing, but we also made a 2. Now … UIL was GREAT! To me, I loved it! Pit made some mistakes here and there, but people were focused and energized! There were some flaws .. but not enough to give us a 2! Hicimos un uno!! MUHAHAHAHA … [I would think that’s how u would say it] Anyhow… now everyone is getting excited since the Band hasn’t made a 1 in 3 years! =OOOOO ….. Now, we plan to make to get a SWEEPTAKES! It’s possible! We have potential! =D

I love concert season; it’s the time to bring out the best in me …. For I … am an oboist! XDD ROCK ON, OBOES! CHYA! Lol …. Oboes are so unique. I mean, I’m the only in HS, and I was the one that started the chain of oboes in middle school. –nodsnods- There’s … 3 in the middle school. One in each grade, actually. Haha. Anyway, umm … as I was saying, I’ve been playing for 3 years. This’ll be my 4th. As any regular elementary student, I started out on recorder. Simple, yes? Lol. I then asked my 5th grade music teacher what instrument is similar to recorder since I was actually pretty good at it. She told me that the oboe would be … [now I think about it, how?]

Concert season is about to end. =[

BUT OMG! WE made sweepstakes! =D Also, we had a great time at State Wind Ensemble. Visited the University of Texas campus. it was ... okay. =l

Other news: I've gone through All-Region. Made it to Area. Was 2 chairs away from State. BUT GREAT experience. =]

Now, it's about time for the State Solo and Ensemble. Woot! Couldn't believe I've made it this far. =D
