. Well... hmm... Fiddle is the term we use for a violin when it is played in a style of music such as bluegrass, folk, country, and western music. I'm not sure why people started calling it that. The way you play the fiddle is usually different than the violin.. like the rythm you use while bowing and stuff. The violin is the term I think most other genres use... like classical, rock, and everything else. Even though sometimes the fiddle may be played in certain songs in the same style as in other genres... I guess it is a habit to call it a fiddle. I hope that answered your question okay. I'm not an expert, so maybe I'm not right. It is just my opinion... God bless you! Bye!
