I'm sorry, Spencer...I didn't mean to slam sax players as teachers. Obviously if you're taking private lessons from one, your teacher must know what they're doing.

I was taught the basics along with 7 other flute players as well as the rest of the entire woodwind section at once in the sixth grade. Our band teacher, while he was extraordinarily successful at accomplishing his goal, was not able to give everyone the individual attention to correct bad habits that were forming, such as bad hand placement or rolling out. That was why I recommended lessons.
