About Me
Born in British Columbia in 1972.Jordan has been composing since he was 5 years old. He had his first composition performed by the Wolfville Concert Band when he was only 8. He began his studies in composition, harmony and ear training at the age of 9 and continued with Owen Stephens at Acadia University when he was 13.

While studying viola performance with Walter Trampler at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston from 1990-1992, he had the opportunity to have a few of his compositions, particularly his Symphonies No.1, 4, 5, 7 and 11 and Moods for Wind Ensemble performed by the New England Philharmonic and the New England Symphony Orchestra. His Musical Moment for Four Trombones, Piece for String Quartet, The Pilgramage for String Orchestra, Four Passions for Solo Viola, Ressurrexi for String Quartet and Suite for Three Instruments was also performed and produced on CD. He studied composition with Joseph Maneri, John Felice and Gunther Schuller. In January of 1992, he came back to Nova Scotia and completed his composition studies with Owen Stephens and graduated in 1995. His composition recital was performed in April 1994 and was received with great enthusiasm from both performers and audience performing works such as his Three Fugues for Wind Ensemble, Three Pieces for Viola and Piano, Two Sketches for Percussion Ensemble and Night Music for Voice and Piano. He won Second Prize for the BMI Film Composers Competition with his music for Flowers Falling which he also conducted with the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra. Other compositions of his have included Nuclear, Duo for Trumpet and Trombone and his Sextet for 2 French Horns, 2 Bassoons and 2 Clarinets. He has composed 25 symphonies and 10 string quartets plus many other works and his entire catalogue totals more 600 works for orchestra and various ensembles. In September 1996, his Rhapsody for Flute and Piano was performed by Peter Allen and Patricia Creighton and aired by the CBC. Since August of 1998, his Three Sketches for Orchestra was performed with high acclaim by the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra until it was finally released on CD in 2003. His Celtic Power for Orchestra was performed by Symphony Nova Scotia in November 2001 and In Memoriam (dedicated to Tara Tousenard) was performed by the Acadia Symphony. Many of his other compositions including Tragedy (for viola, clarinet and piano) and Sorrows (for viola and piano) have been recorded and produced on CD. Many different ensembles have performed his works throughout the province and in Boston. The samples have been removed as there is not enough room on this site. He was recently awarded Honorable Mention for his work for large string orchestra (Dolente) in the Adagio Contest of 2007 held by the Fauxharmonic Orchestra in Baltimore, Maryland.
