Also, for the chromatic, try to accent every 4+ interval...ex. for C major, accent the C and the F# for each octave. D major, accent the D and the A flat, in B major accent the B and the F natural...etc. I hope this helps!

Hey Pyface. Sorry, I didn't get your message until now...I haven't been really active on the forum for a while. But for the ABRSM 4 scales, I suggest lots and lots of SLOW work. And that doesn't mean floppy fingers at a slow tempo, it means active fingers at a slow tempo...so that you know that every finger hits each key at the right time with ease and dexterity. Keep working it slow until you pick up the pace a bit. Also, try to do variations on each of the scales such as 3rds and 6ths. Another thing, don't just make your fingers do all the work, your ELBOWS too can help tremendously. As your fingers move, move your elbows in the direction the fingers are going to help facilitate the tempo. Remember, LEGATO and think of the scales as another melody going crescendo then decresendo. These are all tips that have helped me improve my scales tremendously.

Thanx!
I found it on the internet, saved it and then used it! I thought it was very cool! Unfortunately, I don't play the sax, so the sax at the front was a bit misleading!

I think I'm 7th grade, but I'm not sure! I turned twelve in September. I live in North Wiltshire, which is at the top of South-west England. It's only an hour to Wales. It's a town called Malmesbury, near Bristol. At the moment, it's snowy, icy, cold and wet! It sounds fun, but not after a week and a half, with 11 and 12th graders pelting you! You can message me, sure!

Yes their are age categories I listed them for Spark12 on the thread. You'll have to look at it again. It's Region then All-State. Where exactly do you live? I lived in England for a couple of years when I was very young. (my dad works for the U.S government and he has to move around sometimes)But, I don't remember it at all. What grade are you in? Can I message you?

I'm just strange! I'm one of those people who like a song, then listen to it until they're sick of it!!! Also, just cause i'm British, with all-state bands, is it region, then all state? Are their age categories?
