Ahh... I'm wondering whether or not I should do the orchestra this season... October and November (maybe even December if our band moves on enough) we have marching band competitions every Saturday, and then I have Orchestra concerts Sundays. That's too much being two completely different instruments and different music...

I'm thinking of waiting until the next season to do the Orchestra. Since I made this audition they'll keep my place for next season... I don't know.

JazzOboe
Yay! I made it into the orchestra! The letter just came a little while ago in the mail! Whoo, I'm relieved!
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Yeah. A lesson that I recently learned is that if you have a lot on your plate, you won't be able to do your best. So be sure to do as much as you can, but don't be afraid to say no if you're already packed.
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Wow! That's a LOT! I'm not sure I have that much going on, but it's enough to pack my schedule. I can't imagine how hard all of that must be to get done!
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Thanks! Yeah, with this orchestra there are no alternate spots, but I've already made it in before, so I know I'm good enough. There was just one more old person that tried out, I guess, haha. And like I said if I don't make it, it really will be easier, because I had a hard time even deciding whether or not I should audition, my schedule is so packed!
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Ahh, nope. I'm starting to worry, too.
But the thing is, I'm auditioning against mostly seniors and college students, so it's great if I get in at all, if I don't make it this year, then that might be even better, because I will have orchestra concerts and marching band competitions on the same weekends. o.O
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Haha yup. I actually got a lesson with my band director today! He was a music major and a genius in my opinion. Trumpet is him main instrument, so he helped a LOT. My dad was a music major too, he's just as good as my band director, but he doesn;t work with music now. I would have him give me lessons, but he's been overseas the whole summer so it hasn't worked out.
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Yup, that's the problem with me, too. I'm having trouble getting a constant air stream, though it's improving. It's not sounding too pretty. xD I need to play with a tuner just to make sure that I'm hitting the right notes with my mouth. :\ But I guess it's better than nothing.
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Eh, well enough. What's your aim?

Brass instruments are HARD. :\
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Hey! I know, it's been FOREVER, hasn't it?! Congratz on making the orchestra! I just auditionedfor my orchestra, and I don't know how I did yet. Guess what? ..... I'm learning to play the trumpet! It's for marching band. I'm teaching myself, and I only have 2 months to learn it, but I know I can do it.

Do you have a yahoo, by any chance? You need to download the messenger.

oboegirl
oh i see. I really hope I get 1st chair oboe this year lol. Playing 2nd is ok, but I have been practicing like crazy lately so I hope I get 1st chair! :D
Delete | 15 years ago

oboegirl
You had two english horn players? I think I'm the only one this year because the only other person who played it graduated.
Delete | 15 years ago

oboegirl
haha I cant wait until youth symphony starts up in the fall (I just found out I made it in today!) I'm pretty sure I made it for english horn too, so there should be some really cool english horn music! This year we are doing capriccio espagnol, so I hope we play the 2nd movement with the english horn solo!
Delete | 15 years ago

oboegirl
That sounds cool! I need to start finding some more english horn music to play lol. Right now I only have one solo book and Quiet City by Copland.
Delete | 15 years ago

oboegirl
Actually, it is just called "Sonata" and it's by Telemann. It wasn't originally written for the english horn.
Delete | 15 years ago

oboegirl
Hi, I haven't talked to you in a while. I finally put up a video of me playing.
Delete | 15 years ago

JazzOboe
Wow. That's really cool! I really hope you get in.
So, that's the PA Youth Symphonic Orchestra?
Just a guess.

When I tried out for my youth orchestra, I had about three days to learn all of my material on a new oboe. Ack! And I came down with a nasty cold just the day before the audition.
But I still made it in! Yay. I didn't make it into the top orchestra, because they were already full, but my judge didn't even have to wait to mail me back, he just said "You're in!"

I'm sure you'll make it, because from you're videos, it sounds like you're just as good, if not better than me.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Well, I KNOW that I would drop out of band if I could, but we don't have an orchestra at my school, and for the philharmonic orchestra, you need to be in your school music program to be accepted. Well, unless you're homeschooled.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
It does. The music is just so much emptier, because there are so many moving parts and harmonies that are left out. I often have to play weird moving notes that no one else is playing (which isn't a bad thing) because the other moving parts and the actually INTERESTING melodies have been left out.

Haha, I guess it was pretty much the same for me, too. In 6th grade, I knew that I liked music, but I still didn't have the music ear, and didn't know what good music was, and I wasn't that serious about it. Let's just say, I sucked. xD But I didn't know it at the time. I was good compared to others, but they couldn't care less about music, really.

In 7th grade, I didn't even know if I wanted to do band again or not, but I did, and I realized that I now had a band director that would whip you until you got it right, instead of babying, you.So, I really HAD to kick in to overdrive. I fell in love with the oboe, got a great music ear, and here I am.

Lookie there, I wrote a novel! xD
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Yeah. And I forgot to mention that we only have alto sax. He thinks he's like the best director in the state, yet he's too chicken to have anything beyond your basic instruments?

You're right! It's because with the oboe, you have those really hard things to overcome, like the air and the mouth. But once you get past that whole double reed and intonation thing, you can really stretch your limits as a musician.

So you're exactly right, you're either really bad, or you're really good, because anyone who can get past the suckish parts of the oboe can learn to vibrato in time, and do other awesome stuff.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
My band directer irks me soooooooo much!
He thinks he's just so good, because he's got the "best" middle school band in the state.
But at the same time, he doesn't allow any bassoons, french horns, oboes, etc. into his band.
He only let me play the oboe because I moved from FL in the middle of the school year.
Even then, he was nearly begging me to switch to sax.

And I don't like the music we play in band, either. It's all boring repetative marches, and it doesn't show off the potential sound of an oboe, the beautiful flowing notes.
And when we DO have any of that music, the saxaphones ruin it.

Everyone thinks that I'm so lucky that I don't have to deal with chair competitions, because I'm the only oboe, but I'm nearly BEGGING for some competition, or at least to be able to hear another oboist play!

I want to learn to play english horn so bad, but I just got my new oboe, and we can't invest in a new instrument.

Blech.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Well, it was band, so we didn't play any music that really had any solos in it, or even gave me a different part. Gosh, this stuff he gives us is soooo basic. For me, anyways. It's like:

You people are stumbling over cut time, and I'm playing 7/4 time at 148 BPM with triplets.

It's sooo boring.

But I'm in the SC Youth Orchestra, so we do a lot of fun music in there, and it's a lot more challenging and entertaining.

I'm glad to hear that your concert went to well! I hope your next one is just as good!

Ooh! we might be getting a new oboist in the orchestra! Yay! then I won't be the only one, and I'll finally have some friendly competition.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Haha! Last night, we had a school concert . . . and I forgot my reeds at home. xD

Luckily, the grades play 6th, 7th, then 8th grade bands. So, we went last, and my mom had time to go home and get me my reeds. But I wasn't able to warm up, and if my band director had found out about me forgetting those, he would have had a hissy then hanged me by my toenails.

But it's all good now! xD

I hear you've got some concert news?
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
lol good luck at your concert!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Well, I didn't get a standing ovation, but everyone clapped really loudly when I stood up. That's just fine with me though! Our best peice was the New World Symphony. I just got back from yet another concert because we had our school band concert tonight! We did alright. It wasn't as fun as the orchestra one because the oboe parts aren't very exciting in band.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah, I actually had my concert today too! How did yours go? Mine went great and I actually did pretty good on my solo lol.
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Ouch! I don't think I've ever hurt myself with my oboe before! Haha. I'm getting the hang of vibrato now. It is kind of like laughing, but you need to start at blowing with 95% of your air and use the 5% to pulse it.
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Wow, you started really early! All those years really make you sound good though. Diaphragm vibrato is really tricky for me. It's kind of like tonguing without your tongue... Hahah.
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Yeah, I thought so. I could kind of tell that it wasn't quite a true vibrato from your video. I just wasn't too sure. Any who, you sound great! How long have you been playing oboe?
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
It helps. But I'm not sure that practicing 5 hours a day would be possible. I think I'll keep it to 2 hours. Any clue on vibrato? I know you should be "pulsing" your air and not using the throat or lips. I'm just finding it hard to get a faster vibrato. I can only do about 4 pulses per beat (at 60bpm).
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Thanks!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
yeah that is my favorite part too! I can't wait to play it at our christmas concert in december!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah I thought the hardest part was all of the tremolos, but they're getting easier to play. I really like to play the solo at the beginning!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
You're welcome! Have you tried to play it yet?
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
I really like your nice warm tone. Any tips on produce a nice warm, dark tone?
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Wow. Raymond, you get grounded a lot then. xD Let me know how life's going whenever you get it back, okay?

Well, Mark, we know he's not DEAD or anything now.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
dude im grounded its hard to talk! im sorry its not my fault.
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Ah nice videos! I'm also playing Sherzade and the 1st & 2nd movements of the Cimarosa!
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
I'm kicking myself soo hard right now.
Please don't hurt me when I tell you this.....

I lost his number...

But I honestly don't think that he could be grounded for THIS long..... Maybe he DIED. O.o
No, that can't be it either..... -_- This is hard...
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah that is like my favorite song that I have ever played! I was amazed how the orchestra sounded when we played it on the first day of practice!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
You'll do fine! I'm nervous about my solo too though!!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I can't wait to play it at our concert in 2 weeks!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I'll try to put a video of the youth orchestra playing danse bacchanale after we have our concert if my parents will let me get a youtube account.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I like it! You sound really good too!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yes I love my english horn! :D Who is the piece that you are playing in your new video by? I don't think I've heard it before!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I think i've heard the symphonic dances before. That would be really cool to play them! I like the new video by the way! You have a really nice sound!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah it is! I get to play it at a concert that is comming up soon!
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Okay. I'll be sure to tell him. I plan on calling him, maybe around Sunday.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
well..... not really. I get to play for about 5 measures, but the string part is really beautiful!
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
I know. Imma call him sometime in these next few weeks.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I'm not sure who the publisher is, it just says "Luck's Music Library" on the bottom.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Yeah, he's always made good grades and such, but I never recall him being grounded, though we never were THAT close. We didn't talk daily or anything, but we're good friends, and I don't see what all it could've been that he would be grounded for.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
yeah I wouldn't doubt that that wouldn't sound that good! 6 oboes are just too much lol! The third oboe in my orchestra sometimes plays the 2nd part with me and even with two of us it can sometimes sound off!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Wow that's alot! I've never played with more than two other oboes before!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah I'm also really glad that we aren't playing arrangements of the songs. They're challenging but fun!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah it is pretty much my favorite piece for orchestra EVER!!!! Last year we played it in a small community orchestra, but it was only an arrangement. I was sooooooo excited when I found we were playing it this year!!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
You have a very nice tone on the english horn! How long have you been playing it?
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Not too uptight, I don't think, but not pushovers either. I don't know of anything he would/could do to get grounded, for any amount of time.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Naw, I never do. I moved out of state, so I never see him anymore. I have however, tried to email him before, but it never works because he *looks at Raymond wherever he is* NEVER ANSWERS EMAILS! *cough* Anyways... I would expect him to be the same way with texts an such.
Delete | 16 years ago

ure-name-here
ol ure pics too big
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
I've not heard from Raymond since you have. What is your AIM? I'm still trying to figure mine out.... See how this thing works. I made it for him, but then he's never on. ='[ Sad. Isn't it?

Do you know Raymond personally? we went to the same school. *Is proud*

I don't know how long my orchestra practices will be, honestly.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
sO, so now Raymond thinks he knows everything about instruments he doesn't play? FINE!!! He can be that way! So what if he plays umpteen instruments, he doesn't know everything.... Does he?

:P Kewel on the oboe clip. I honestly don't know what any of those pieces are, so I can't help you choose. o.O I play out of my Barret book and move on. Fourty Progressive Melodies is fine with me!
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
I'm actually dying to learn to play the english Horn. My private instructor lets me toy around for a few minutes on it OCCASIONALLY. Other than that, I'm really not able to get my hands on one. ='[ Sad, isn't it?
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Lol. No, I'm just kidding. I say that all the time. I mean it very lightheartedly.

...

Or do I?? >.>

XD
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Eh, don't need anything too special. Just want to see what I'm up against, as I stated before.
Delete | 16 years ago

JazzOboe
Wow! I you deffinately have a great tone, and I love the sound of your vibrato. I want to hear you play an oboe to see what I'm up against. >:-)

Lolz. But seriously, let us hear you play the oboe!
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Ah, yes. Oboe D'amoure would be really neat. Although I'm pretty sure they'd be expensive. Maybe a musette oboe would be fun to try too! It's just hard to get your hands on 'special' oboes.
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Ah! Your still very lucky to get your hands on an EH. I really love the sound of them. It's kind of a cross between oboe and bassoon. I still really love my oboe though. I'll be sticking to it for awhile.
Delete | 16 years ago

Canadian
Wow, nice intervals, they are always hard for me on oboe. Most of your notes spoke, but I think you need to loosen up for those intervals. I'd really like to get my hands on an English Horn soon. I love the sound of English horn, and it's kind of refreshing to play two instruments, isn't it? Do you own your English Horn or is it TRYPO's?
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Awesome vid! lots of silence and no music at all! lol THGE LINK DOESNT WORK. :[

Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Playing as in listening, or playing as in on oboe??
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Ask your lessons teacher, I tried to explain it but i guess I just can't teach very well lol
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
syllables for double tonguing are "ta" and "ka" for staccato or seperated passages, while "da" and "ga" are for smoother playing. somepieces are much to fast to single tongue, so thats why double tonguing is important to learn.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Sure! lets go on aim so we can make this faster.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Ate cinnamon rolls(yum!), played Guitar hero, tried to write some music, did chores.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
yea it really is. one of my favorite pieces.

Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
1. Either one, but I would trust the private teacher more.
2. Some are mean, most are nice.
2. Umm...by festival I meant solo and ensemble....are we talking about the same thing here??? haha...
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
ha saw the random questions thing lol. Yea...I get those alot from my friends. Most of my friends are girls, no thanks to the flute section.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Its really not that difficult...people think its all nerve racking and a big deal but its really not, and its a good experience for you. Just talk to your teacher about it. They do all the paperwork, they will help you find a solo(there is a list you must pick from from Grades 1-7) and then you practice!
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Festival. Mine is, of course, the Chaminade...so have you looked at it btw? I bet the Chaminade would sound beautiful on the oboe.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
no problem! so, what are you doing for solo this year?
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
lol its ok.
havent gotten it yet, but again, my email's "special."
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
hmm interesting. hey did you get my PM?
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
oh the selmer is an alto sax, and it sucks.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
oh. yea I only got a Gemeinhardt 3SH Open hole but I'll be askin for a Muramatsu EX for xmas. I have a Selmer AS500 I use for marching band so its in pretty bad shape.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
What kind of Oboe do you have? (random question) lol just wondering.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
oh I know what you are talking about! yea I've seen that before. You tongue it, but its very lightly tongued, almost not at all, and its usually in the middle of a slur/tie.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
You would play it sort of like a breath accent...instead of initiating the reed with your tongue you would use just air. I think? I may be thinking of a different articulation sign but I think thats right.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Yea its a really nice piece.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
lol. I'm practicing the chaminade right now. tis hard.
but ill get it soon enough!

Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Pretty cool, btw! Flute has a semi interesting part, and a nice high G at the end before the F. Usually pieces end in the respective key, which would be Eb, but oh well no big deal. Overall a great piece for an average middle school band.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Yes! It arrived.
So hi Mark! Nice to meet you! lol
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Well, I have to go. Nice talking with you!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I wish my school had an english horn! I have to wait until november before I can get one because the place i'm getting it from can't get any in until november. I can't wait any longer!!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I wish I could get a wood english horn but I would never be able to afford it on my own! haha
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah I know but It is the only one within like 3 hours of where I live.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
It is a 520.
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I have to go about twice that distance, so we'll just have to see how that goes lol
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah the cheapest one I could find was $4,000 but it is a Fox so it should be good. i still have a long way to go though!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Haha I still have to drive a long way to get there. I wish we had 4 here...
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I'm still waiting to get my english horn! my parents say I have to pay for it so I have been working a lot lately!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
haha I think I got into the best one in our area because it is the ONLY one in my area! lol
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah whenever I record myself its like "do I really sound like that?" lol
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I hope I get to play solos! I never get to play solos in our band! I usually have to play an octave lower than the flutes!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Yeah its weird whenever I record myself I sound like a duck too!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Oops sorry "under"

Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
Oh and I like that Over the Shining Stars song!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I don't really know what kind of music this orchestra plays, but i hope it's the real stuff!
Delete | 16 years ago

oboegirl
I got in the FMYS. I am so excited! I've never been in a youth orchestra before!
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
No...I didnt get it yet. Try checking Finales website about the upgrading issue, you shouldnt have to be charged to update and older program to the current version.

I love swimming! I think I'm gonna go swimming too....
ttyl
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
I was trying to put it into a Notepad file, but it won't let me. That was a dumb idea.

Oh well!

Hey try going to help in your finale and select "check for updates" or something like that. It might let you, but i don't know if it would be free or not.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Idk...my email is stupid so its probably not you. I'll just give it a few more minutes.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
oh yea...I forgot about that. I have an idea. But give me a few minutes. And I havent received anything yet in my mail...
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
hmm...do you know how to make an MUS file a PDF? That might work...but I don't know how to do it.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
um....I guess so? I was just laughing because its a Christmas song and we are in July...lol no offense! I'm sure in December it will sound very festive to me.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Haha wow. Mine is one of bachs piano inventions arranged for oboe/english horn duet.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
um...send the file in an email. ill PM u with my email and you reply with yours.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
that would be cool! I may have something for oboe as well let me look...
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
I don't have the energy to open my eyes at 9.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
ahhhhhh just woke up. gonna start writing now.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Had to stop playing cuz everyone went to sleep.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Its 11:25 here in FL....um its ok. I gave up for tonight lol, I'll be working on it tommorow.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
1. Tenor is nothing special, I agree. The only reason my name is tenorsax13 is cuz I just got one when I made this account, and now I don't like it. <(

2. Yes! Playing at 7 am is fun, it wakes you up!

3. You spelled embouchures right.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
ZI=I
no=don't

ugh, I have horrible grammar!
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
blah! ZI no like the tenor, but if I want to be in jazz band this year, I must play it. Eb Clarinet is like going from flute to piccolo, same basic fingerings, just a tighter, harder to control embouchure.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
Thats correct, except in the third octave fingerings differ between flute and picc, because of piccolos out-of-tuness. Yea its middle C up to the G 3 octaves above the staff, for flute anyhow.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
OHHH I thought you meant Eb French Horn, because those do exist but are rarely used...yea that would be cool, I love the sound of the english horn. Eb Clarinet is hard. Have you played the regular Bb before? I would start on that first.
Delete | 16 years ago

tenorsax13
*added- I'd love to see the picc/flute part! Do you know the flutes fingerings/range/impractical trills/tremolos and stuff? It would be good for you to get a second opinion.
Delete | 16 years ago

Ahhh I know what you mean, as long as you practice your scales and have a good understanding of the circle of fifths and such, then it isnt difficult at all. Its also useful when writing music, but then we get into chords and forms and I will catch myself before I start rambling.

Eb Clarinet and Piccolo are fine, but most people don't own an Eb horn or a Contrabassoon. They are VERY expensive, and why not the regular F horn?

As for writers block, I've had that lately too. I study other composer's works and see how they write, thats how I get inspired to write a song.

Its ok, I have a lot of editing to do and another two pages to write. But I will send you the file when its finished!

You said you were writing and oboe concerto? Hows that coming along? (btw mine is in really awkward keys, Ab Major, A Major, and some others that I'm planning to put in! Gives it a nice rising feeling in the music, I <3 Key changes. lol)

I have 2008, its pretty good. You can write for either 24-25 can't remember. You can write cues in you know, just go to a different layer and write the part in. Anyway, I like Printmusic and don't think its worth the money to go to the full Finale.

Oh ok then it is then. Solo and band use the same system, thats how it works here. I'm doing the Concerto in E Minor for my Alto solo, its also a Grade 6. I'm trying to write my own concertino just for fun, for flute and piano. I saw you have Finbale Printmusic, I also have that software.

Whats your solo grading system? Ours goes from 1-7, 7 being the hardest. Chaminade Concertino is a 6 here.

lol have you seen the Chaminade?! It helps you with range and stuff it goes from the C below the staff up to the B two octaves above the staff. Thats 5 ledger lines!! lol but its so fun to play, especially with the piano accomp.

Yea the Chaminade Cocertino isn't too difficult, it just takes some practice and an aquired obsession of the chromatic scale. lol

Well i'm talking high school band, its WAY different then Middle school. It was the same way for me last year too, but at the summer marching camp you see how serious it is.

Thats true. I just gotta see if time permits, the band director makes our lives very involved in band, in fact, 80% of anything I do involves music.

Yea, if I had a piccolo I'd audition on it, but sometimes piccolos arent used, for obvious reasons(lol).

lol, any way I post on your page and you post on mine. That should keep it simple.

Well I'm thinking of auditioning for the Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra on flute, but it depends on time and such, with going into high school marching band and all. I play sax in jazz and marching band, but I really like flute the best.

i loved it. my band director is going to ask the symphonic band director at the highschool if i can have permission to use it. which is making me very excited :] but i honestly can't wait to audition on it for pyso (youth symphony orchestra) to see where i stand with it.
