Lol Ive listened to the Muczynski Time Pieces and had a look at them cause my friend she was doing her Associate Diploma of Music (AmusA). Spohr concerto 1 and 3 are AmusA pieces. I think Ill play them for my Diploma :D

My friend she is an amazing player.
In her 5th year shes done her Diploma!!!
And it only took like a less than a year for her to prepare for it.. It usually takes 1 - 1 1/2 years to prepare.. And SHE SWAPPED TEACHERS HALF WAY THROUGH THE YEAR!! and may I mention she is only in Year 11.. Well this year shes in Year 12.. I dont think she was going to do her Licentate Diploma of Music (LmusA). Cause she has to do Grade 6 theory.. That includes stuff like Spohr Concertos 2 & 4 Benjamin Le Tombeau de Ravel and Contrasts for Clarinet and Violin by Bartok.

Sad though she isnt going to go to music College.

Haha... Good luck with begging....

What are you Re-auditioning the Clarinet for? College?

Have you played Muczynski Time Pieces on Clarinet??

-ReubZ

Dennis
Don't really go by the grading systems. When you get to college you are pretty much either told what to play, or given a choice of a limited number of options. Grading systems are all different. As far as what I am playing...this semester I am playing Handel Sonata in Aminor, Muczynski Three Preludes, Mozart Andante in C, Gaubert Fantaisie, and Liebermann Soliloquy on flute. I haven't studied anything in depth in college for clarinet, So I can only share that I have played through a LOT of music. I am currently working on Spohr Concerto 1 in Cminor to reaudition for clarinet. I am probably going to do mvt. 3. Other than that...I am off to the Flute Fair in Orlando, Florida today. I get to try out flutes and figureout which $20,000 one is best for me....then beg for money on the street! Have a great day!

I know you dropped clarinet.. But any pieces your learning?

-ReubZ

Musio4fun
Hey Dennis

Im just here to complain..

I really do not get how they grade Pieces...
My grading system is harder than ASBRM or Trinity Exams...

And I looked at a repertoire list in Grading for College and it was really weird

OK Solo De Concours by Messager is a Grade 7 List C piece for AMEB (Australian) But a Level 3 Solo For college College

And Sonatina by Arnold is a Grade 8 List C piece for AMEB but a Level 2 Solo for College

They have heaps of other things...

Im not happy...

But I guess its pretty good that AMEB is harder than most Exams overseas

My rambling is over :D

And Remember YOUR SPECIAL!!!

The multi-tracking is very well done - very cool. Do add more (in-copyright only I'm afraid) if you do them! I love the piece as well. Tchaik was a goodun.

Well Good to hear you got in.. A double perfomance major would be VERY hard... Im going to audition of Clarinet and do a Major on clarinet with a minor on flute.. its really confusing over here you just get more credit or something :D Yeah Spohr was Challenging.. I think she was more teasing me.. hahaha.. But she only gave me PARTS of it to play... Like say bars 50-60 or something but I can play the 2 Mvmt really well apparently... :D Oh btw Happy New Year.. :D:D

Did you get into college? Did they stop you because they thought you were good enough?? Coplands Concerto aye... good choice.. Do you have MSN by any chance?? And I was wondering if your putting any more recording of yourself on your website!?
Delete | 18 years ago

Musio4fun
Actually what is your preferable fingering for the high high B??
Delete | 18 years ago

Musio4fun
Well... Uhhh All I can say is... Wow... Seriously.. Wow.. That is just amazing. At the moment i'm working through Jeanjean 16 Etudes Modernes. That only goes up to a high high B. No to the C like in Spohr Concerto. By the way Have you played any other Concertos By Spohr, Nielsen or Francaix??

Delete | 18 years ago

Musio4fun
A question Dennis,

Have you played Spohrs Clarinet Concerto No.1?
If you have.. how did you manage the Really high C on the 2nd page of the First Movement..

Delete | 18 years ago

Musio4fun
Yes I do know what you mean in the forum. I didnt exactly expand. I did this piece for a solo and reseached about it. And I am still improving on it.. His Tarantella was based on the huge spider the Tarantulla (However you spell it) and the first phrase of it is like it crawling.. something like that but yes I know what you mean..

Hi Dennis,

I know that you do not want to hear this, but I agree with Fishfaces. It is very childish to put down the people that you see on a daily basis at school. I think that you should fulfill your dream without putting other people down, while keeping your comments to yourself as they might hinder your chances at "ANYTHING" if anyone with importance at your school read this.

Wow. Lets hope your professor doesn't read that. Now there's pretty much no chance in hell that your getting performance. And you want it. Its obvious. And I have more important things to do than writing on your wall but I figured why not? Its amusing reading the rants of an infantile grown man.
Delete | 18 years ago

fishfaces
Dennis,
I noticed in your 'rant' post that you said you weren't a performance major. Do you think that maybe you are just overly jealous of those in the performance studio at your school? Not everyone can be a performance major obviously and those who are I'm sure have earned it. I suggest you be the bigger man and accept the fact you are not performance since you seem to want it so much. Why else would you ridicule your colleagues? Have you ever had a perfect performance? Until you can say honestly that you have never made a flaw in a performance, you should respect your colleagues performances. I feel sorry for those who must tolerate your pettiness. Hopefully those in your rant will not see your post. If they do, I'm sure it will only come back and bite you on the ass. You said in your post that people should use discretion in choosing performance pieces. Shouldn't you have discretion in things you post?

so you look/sound like a smart kid who knows a bit more than me about what you're doing. i'm auditioning for james madison university in feb. and i need two pieces of contrasting styles and all that... i just don't know what to play. half the time you can't look or hear the music on the internet, my 23 yr old band director played the string bass and knows nothing about the flute.
i haven't really 'played' any pieces so to speak. i just moved from a band were i was first chair playing grade IV to V, and with some practice i can manage just about anything.
i've actually been looking at James Galway's arrangment of Mozart's Concerto in D Major, though the runs are a bit difficult, i can get through it....

basically, any suggestions?

Hey Dennis,
I am back from my vacation and thought I would drop in and say Hi. I miss you! Call me sometime so we can catch up.

Delete | 18 years ago

Dennis
of course I am back! I don't tell fibs! I am still trying at that freaking third movement of the Burton. Why not just play it at 80bpm instead of 104bpm? There is no need for that!
