I'm thinking of trying out for DCI in a year or so. My main instrument is clarinet and one of my marching techs from the Blue Knights told me to try out mellophone. I would love to learn this instrument, but i have never played brass before. How hard is that transition? Also, I've read that if you get used to the brass instrument, your embochure for clarinet screws up and you basically need to disregard all you learned about clarinet. Is that really true? And another question: How much money does it cost to be in or try out for Blue Knights?
