I joined the Oxnard High School marching band as a freshman, with no experiance whatsoever with reading or playing music other than my self-taught mediocre guitar knowledge. I was given a mellophone, not knowing what I was getting myself into. As it turned out, I had been learning mellophone and about music at about 3 times the speed as a normal person. Being called a prodogie by my section leader, I disagreed (and still do) I fell in love with the mellophone and french horn and do not plan on quiting or switching anytime soon.
