Hey there! I'm a 16-year-old and a junior in high school. I play flute/piccolo in marching band and oboe/English Horn in concert band. I am a firm believer that ANY instrument can play ANY style of music as long as the player knows what he or she is doing. So yes, if an oboist can play jazz, by all means, why shouldn't they? My favorite music genres are Classical (I am in love with music of the Baroque period), Dixieland jazz, Ragtime, and Big Band (especially Glenn Miller).
