We're going to need two more chords (along with the D chord we learnt in Part 1) to play 'Show Me The Way To Go Home' . They are - G major and A7.

Putting Two chords together

Now we're going to play the first part of 'Show Me The Way To Go Home'. This consists of 8 strums of D Major, followed by 4 of G Major, and finally 4 more of D Major:

Take it very slowly at first. Go round and round the sequence changing back and forth between D and G

The Next Phrase

Spend some time on the D to G change - it takes a while to get used to. Once you're reasonably comfortable with that, there's just one more chord change we need to get to grips with - that's moving between D and A7.

Remember the D chord and how we were trying to stop the ring finger from falling over and touching the string below it? Well it's the same here with the A7. It's very important not to let the middle finger touch the open G string. If it does, it will deaden the sound and make the chord sound much worse.

Also, notice how the ring finger ('number 3') doesn't have to move very far to change between D and A7. In fact, you don't need to take it off the string - you can just slide it between the two positions.

Now try playing along with this section :

The Whole Tune

Finally, once you've practised the D to G change and the D to A change, you're ready to put the whole song together.
