Actually, the song was originally written by Leonard Cohen. Jeff Buckley's version was just a cover (though out of the dozens that have been done, his is my favorite).

this was originally written by Jeffy Buckley, not Rufus wainwright.. both amazing songs that move you. Jeff's voice being kind of weak and broken to project the mood and Rufus' having insane powerful tone that possesses you
