Is it good for the top lip to overlap the bottom when playing the flute? Not where it affects playing, but the top and bottom lips are completly even, the top is going over the bottom. Just wondering if this is wrong. thanks

You want to get your air stream air forward as possible. That way you are able to adjust pitch easily with your lips. If your top lip is too far extended already you may not be able to flatten the pitch with out moving your flute around, which is something you want to avoid. Some pitches on some flutes are flatter/sharper than norm and your lips will learn to compensate for that.

For example C# is generally a bit sharp on most flutes so if you are already top lipping every note you cannot flatten C# except by moving your flute or bad breath support which are bad bad bad ways to compensate.
