Hey! I collect movie soundtracks and get so excited when I hear flute in it. However I mostly ever just hear everything else but flute so someone mentioned the Harry Potter Movie the Prisnor of Azkabaan has a nice flute solo and it is so nice! It`s at the end of track 9 and I think in the scene right before Harry`s divination class just some background scene before the next one. But anyway it`s super fast and sounds fun. But overall the soundtrack was very nice and hear lots of flute in it maybe due to the film being funny and quirky.

My other favorite flute features in soundtracks is the Luke and Lei theme in Return of the Jedi and the Princess Leia theme were awesome. Also The Fifth Element when this alien thing sings has a flute playing with it that was very pretty.

Ok well I was just encouraging everyone to listen to the Harry Potter 4 soundtrack has nice flute playing in it!

Here`s a link to the soundtrack. Unfortunately the clip does not include the flute solo i`m specifically talking about on track 9 however track 21 has some nice flute in it.

James Horner uses a lot of flute in his work, but I find him heavy handed and annoying as a film composer. Less is more, James.

Danny Elfman has some amazing works out there, as does Howard Shore! Check out "Evenstar" from Lord of the Rings Two...it has such sadness to it...

Wow, someone who feels the same way about movie music. Soundtracks are a weakness of mine-most of my CD collection are soundtracks.... (And I still love your screen name!)

yep most of my cd`s are soundtracks as well. I`m listening to Harry Potter 3 now, and I really enjoyed the soundtrack to the mini series children of dune and gladiator soundtracks. Oh and the village had beautiful violin in it. I played the titanic soundtrack so much I haven`t listened to it in a year or so I played it to death!

OH and my biggest pet peave is hearing music in movie previews that I love and are not on the soundtrack. I HATE that. There`s site that states what music previews have. There`s a group calle E.S Posthumus I think that`s the name album Unearthed that lots of movies use and has great music. The trailer for Unfaithful had the song Nara on it and is no used as the theme song for I beilieve it`s cold case files and doesn`t go with it but the music is great!

As a music fan, yeah, there is some great music in movie soundtracks. As a fanatical movie fan, I get annoyed by heavy handed and emotionally boisterous soundtracks. James Horner is one of the worst, in my opinion, at laying the maudlin sap on so thick that one can hardly peel one`s feet from the floor after the film. I`m a fan of quieter movies where I`m allowed to deduce or interpret the emotional implications on my own, and not be driven by a musical cattle prod.

aw here`s the site it`s great: http://www.soundtrack.net/trailers/

You can find music in previews there.

I do like the real emotional music sountracks the best. Maybe that`s why I like Romantic period music too the most. However when I get tired of those soundtracks I listen to the more delicate ones like the sixth sense was. Donnie Darko`s soundtrack was pretty interesting as well. I still enjoy Jame`s Horner`s music. Infact it`s funny. I got tired of John Williams and liked James Horner and now i`m going back the other way around. Williams seemed more fanfare type music and James Horner seemed more I guess heart wrenching but maybe that`s the movies influencing my feelings about it (titanic, braveheart). And thinking back it seemed a lot of Horner`s music was the same line over and over and over which I liked that ONE line but Williams has the many themes of all the characters but still has variety. Ooh jeeze i can go on forever here but that site is great check it out.

I can`t find corpse bride on it maybe it`s too new but I allways find movies updated on that site.

Oh back on James Horner again his soundtrack to Troy was not immpressive to me at all but supposedly there was another composer doing the film and was let go and he took over and did it ridiculously fast. I can`t here any real theme for different scenes or characters. It`s all blasting brass, sorry brass but i`m serious and fast paced music went nowhere.

jeeze and then I`m finding these type of sites

http://www.cinetrax.com/cinetrax.html

that`s the job which is a neat job but sometimes I really like the music and want more and learn it`s only 30sec long period. Darn it all!
