yeah, rolling in helps (or moving your jaw inwards, which eva method suits u better), but that works better if u only need 2 make small adjustments (otherwise u could have ur flute rolled in a riduculous amount! )
anyway, as u said urself, it may have something to do with the headjoint cork thinga madoob. do u have one of those spit-rod-thingos that has an indented line towards the end? (soz, im not good at the technical terms) anyway, if u do, u can see if your headjoint isnt wonky by putting the end of the spit rod in your headjoint (of the flute. ). if the indented line is in the centre of the mouth hole thingo (u no the hole on the lip plate) then u headjoints fine!

OK reading back on this i can see that it doesn`t appear to make a lot of sense. ask me if u hav any qs!

try to get it to the shop because aspring or a strew might be loss or you need new pads for the key.

A large amount of pitch accuracy is in your head. If you`ve ever heard your band director talk to the french horns, he`ll (or she`ll) say that they have to hear the pitch before they play it. You`ll notice that if they`re sharp and then they pull ALL THE WAY OUT, they`re still sharp.

It`s the same idea on flute, but not so dramatic. Try singing tuning notes (A or Bb) into a tuner until you can sing them in tune with no problem, then apply it to your playing.

Another plan of attack is to TRY to play flat. That means to pull out as much as you can and drop your jaw. Let your airstream slow down and blow as downward into the flute as you can. Once you create a flat pitch, you`ll be able to bring it up.

Good luck!
