HeLlO ppl of flutes!! I have a recital coming up and i'm playing something from mozart. All my friends don't like mozart and says it's SO BORING. I find it cool.. i just need to figure out the style of it. Any one like mozart?..:D or am i the only weird one here?..
I love Mozart, but not for auditions. He really didn't write my style of music. It sounds beautiful, but I get really tired of playing scales and arpeggios all the time. Now...I LOVE playing the Symphony No. 40 in G minor.
Dennis, it is not the notes and scales and arpeggios, it is what you do with them, Mozart said so much with so little, Mozart is never boring, it is the musicians who are boring
It's not so much that it's boring, or that I am boring. It has so much to do with sounding the same. For a Wind Doubler - if I play Mozart Concertos for Flute or Clarinet back to back...They sound too similar to me. So I guess it's the fact that I want to play music that doesn't sound like everyone else's. That's probably why I don't really like Hindemith. He wrote so many great Sonatas, but they are all really similar. Quantz Concertos also sound a lot like Mozart to me. Maybe it's just the time period I dislike. Who knows?! Personally I would prefer something like Muczynski, Ibert, Khachaturian, Martinu, Chaminade, Danzi, and Mercadante to name a few. Although Martinu repeats a lot of his themes through the piece it's in. Just not in the next instrument's piece.
Well, I really didn't say that. I said that most Mozart Concertos sound the same as each other. I didn't say that they sound like everyone else's. The only cross-reference I made was between Mozart and Quantz.
Dennis, 100 years from now, people will be saying that all rap sounds the same, r & b sounds the same, broadway sounds the same, etc, etc, that is because it is a genre, just as classical was written in a particular style.
HAAHAA..HEEHEE, Patrick! You're hilarous :D!...*cries*. It's not the music is boring but the ppl?.. HAHA. i should tell my friend that. I don't think my friend should of judged mozart by just sightreading that one time. And i don't think she sightread that good. I think you should say you like it after you perform it.
that's funny, but hey, some ppl could say mozart is boring..not all ppl have the same taste in music ....iguess.
HEY YOU GUYS!! my birthday is tommorrow! sry, i'm not getting a piccolo, but i'm getting a shopping spree^_^

OH, i ment to say after you perform the music you should judge wether you like the music.
I suggest you read a good biography to spark your interest- he was a very interesting (in all senses of the word) person.
Has anyone ever heard the theory about MOzart's having tourettes syndrome? I watched a documentary a couple of years ago that put forward the theory that not only did he have tourettes, it was responsible for his way of composing. It was presented by a conductor (I think) who also has tourettes. Really, really fascinating.
