For pretty much the same reasons, and because I feel like the forums up here on 8notes are fun but not particularly regulated, I've started a woodwinds forum of my own, hosted on my own domain name and server space, and completely ad-free.

I'd like to start a large community, and if this project actually takes off, then I'll be that much happier.

The posts will be regulated more severely than here on 8notes and the threads will get pruned for dead entries. If anyone's interested in joining, I'll be continuing to slowly build it up at the following URL : http://www.wordinprogress.com/music/

I hope to see a lot of you there, and if you know people from the other 8notes forums, feel free to invite them along.

OK, we have at least 3 new sites (Dennis', Lera's and yours) in just a couple of days!

I wish you all good luck; I intend to visit all of your sites and I expect them to be as friendly as I am sure you are willing them to be.

I do not plan to leave 8notes forum unless it becomes dead (I do not think it will happen, it is quite active) or things degrade to the point that exceed my tolerance.

In any case, I am sure those of us who remain here will miss a lot those parting.

I also hope that all of you will eventually come back and visit 8notes forum members now and then. Why not?

Not that many people have actually left, schoolgirl. To my knowledge, only Dennis and Kara have actually left us, while many of us have joined one or the other of the new forums in addition to this one. At least that's the case with me.

Between this and FLUTE list, I have enough reading to keep on top of So I'm sticking around.

As a former e-Zine/bulletin board owner/mod, I have to say that I sure hope they realize what a time-sucker running these things can be. Not to mention the cost, if it becomes popular. Bandwidth can be unbelievably pricey and you literally end up with no life outside of your computer. Hence the "former" part!

Micron, I am still here, but this is my last week. I left because a certain member of this board was on there starting to harrass me about my gold plating again, hence I left the board simply because I did not want to get into that whole thing again. It had nothing to do with moderation. The only post that was removed on that site of mine was the one where I said that I sold flutes. The moderator simply told me that I had to post that in the sales/wanted place instead. Please do not make assumptions. Reason #9 why this is my last week on this board.

See for yourself.

I hope that Kara does not read that. That is rude. There IS more than meets the eye where you are concerned Micron. I did follow the entire post on the gold plating in which Kara was referring to and I also saw it as harassment. I don't blame her one bit for leaving because of non tolerant people such as yourself. From what I have seen on other boards and such, many people have been annoyed to say the least at your ignorant behavior and the was you come across as condescending and such. That is not going to earn you a lot of friends on boards such as this. The comment on Kara stomping her foot should be removed. Micron, it seems that trouble follows you wherever you post.

Kara, I understand completely why you have decided to leave. Good luck with it.

What a tragedy. Ok, if you mature folk were really proffesional in your music, then why the hell are you posting here while your kids are in the bath, or your spouse is reading.... I am sixteen, and i suppose there are disturbances in these forum's, but to blindly go out of the way to make it internationally known is pathetic. As everyone else, I came here to meet and greet new people, people that did what i did. I kept up with it from time to time, but i find myself criticizing the ignorance of some people, and i suppose it's not worth it. But, "Dennis", I am absolutely 'thrilled' to hear your opinion about the mindless infedels that mingle here. Really, it was 'neccessary'. As well as all your 'adult' friends backing you up.

^_^ it's hard to understand ppl over the internet. OH, and my post..it didn't refer to a specific person. If you're refering me as an "adult friend".. well ya know, that post..yea, not to anyone specifc. I just didn't want this thread to go bad..
Some ppl take things way to seriously here.

<Added>

this is to sbviolastar..(whatever the spelling may be!)

Micron, I am well aware of what when on, on this board and the other board. I do not have anything confused, It was all very clear to me. I post under a different name on the sax group. If someone dare chooses to disagree or have another opinion then yours, it seems you will go though any length and step on anyones toes in the process to get your point across. Your negativity towards others is what brings people to leave forums and get in heated arguments to begin with. I do see the Kara comment as baiting, which you yourself claim should not happen on a public forum. Please keep this is mind and keep this forum fun.

Best Regards,
-Steve

Steve - I hope you don't mind if I comment on something that you addressed to micron.

I think that it is easy to see various personality types and communication styles when one reads this forum. I see that some of it may be cultural differences also. I for one have read and enjoyed micron's style. I have also been the recipient of his "style" before, and though I was uncomfortable and taken aback at first, I have been able to usually see through and gleen his intent.
Sometimes, I admit, I do read his posts and sit here shaking my head and say to myself "micron, you're opening a can of beans". But, I do not think he is malicious.
Again, I apologize for jumping into your comment to someone else.
