Very sorry to hear of your loss. It can be a difficult time, but that would be a nice touch if you could play something at the service.

If you give some direction as to your current abilities and playing level, that would be helpful, although you probably don't want to get too complex since you won't have a long time to work on it.

I obviously don’t know what were your Granddad’s favourite hymns/songs or what he liked to here you play but you should remember that a funeral is an occasion to celebrate a person's life.

Given the circumstances, I would select something not too technically demanding and which can be played sensitively if not with emotion.

It doesn’t have to have religious words - for instance if your Granddad had a passion for flying perhaps "Up, up and away (in my beautiful balloon)" or "Those magnificent men in their flying machines" - although "Flight of the Bumble Bee" might be too technically challenging for the circumstances. Something like this would require a competent accompanist and could be combined with something simple like "Amazing Grace".

I played La Verginella by Bertoni at my mother's funeral. Many people commented on its suitability..
