i just great artley flute at auction
i need help with the serial number
i am curious if i have one of the original artleys or if im looking at the serial wrong
the serial is 1219°1
it shows the 5th digit small like a degree symbol but slightly lower than the top of the rest of the digits
any help?

under the artley sign there is no model number on it though
it just says
Artley
ELKHART IND.
the serial looks to be in very good shape too i dont think its a worn out 8
any ideas?

Like Joe did say it looks like a standard student flute. I am unsure of at what age a flute would be considered vintage or not. By looking at the pictures I do beleive, with all due respect that the value of it today would not be much unless it were maybe a Wilkins model. It would say Wilkins on it if it were though.
Can you take a picture of the barrel and serial number to post?
Given what I suspect about the serial # it still seems to point to 1963-4. Production moved from Nogales to Elkhart and back again. If I remember correctly the 60's were Elkhart years. That was when Conn bought them and moved them to Elkhart for a while.
It looks like a standard, student, silver-plated instrument. They're virtually worthless unless in playing condition. They have a nice sound and should give you some good playing though.
