Im having a hard time double tonguing scales up and down. Like in the music Fantasy by Gabriel faure...in measure 17-20
and in 92-112. What do i do!!!! i know how to double tongue straight 16th but when it comes to going up or down scales i can only make it up to four notes before i start to fall apart.
are there any good books with tonguing exercises?

sounds like you are too tense, you need to relax when double tonguing
try practicing scales slurred then double, do that many times, also play staccatto passages slurred then double
also, don't move the tongue too far back and forth when double tonguing, I use du-gu du-gu on fast passages, comes out much smoother ...

be careful with advice that uses the word "tight", a "tight" embouchure is rarely a good thing, one needs a relaxed embouchure to play properly

Kate told me that she finds it helpful to use a du-guh syllable, rather than a tuh-kuh. I would say try using both, and see which one works for you.
Also, maybe try using a metronome, and try the piece much slower. Get it in your fingers, and then match your tongue with what your fingers are doing.
You have to be able to walk before you can run. :D
Hope this helps!!

Yeah thats true ... i always try to do the hard stuff at first at tempo and not slow it down...i tryed the one patrick said to do and it works but its hard to hear with so much fuzzyness.that my flute produces.

Practice double tonguing without the flute like when you are in the car, talking a walk or shower or... this also helps.
You may also want to use just the headjoint at first also.

But yes, I like Brandy's idea about using a metronome. Take it VERY slow until it is clean. If you are having a hard time producing a clean tone without the double tonging, then I would suggest working on clearing that up first. Try practicing long tones. Hope that helps. Good luck with it.

Also try practicing just the second part, the "kuh" or "guh". And also slow it way down, and then very slowly bring the tempo up

That is also a good suggestion Arabians.
