Is the low D on the piccolo a difficult note. I can get the E and up but the Low D is really difficult. Of course this is my first piccolo too.

As you play lower on those last few notes, the notes will be increasingly demanding of a good embouchure. But....
The tiniest leak, anywhere on the piccolo, will make those notes far less responsive.
If there are NO leaks, and your embouchure is up to it, and you block the low end of the piccolo, say with a cork, then you should be able to play a very quiet note about an octave below the D.
So perhaps you need to get a technician to check for leaks.

123 123 for the lowest D.
If you don't the first finger LH down, it wont work because thats for the D in the middle of the staff.

It's written an octave below what it actually sounds like.
So:
'Low D' = Sounds like middle D
'Moddle D' = Sounds like high D
