Hi 8notes members, seems a real friendly place here!

I have a problem..I want to sell my daughters flute but I havent got a clue about value or how to find out without being ripped off, I know is not a vintage or of much worth but I hope to get a good price, the money will go towards her driving lessons ok so its an Artley nogales ariz 18.0 serial number 516442, it seems to be silver plated and has a case. still plays just needs a clean and polish. She had it from school(2000), they sold it to us when they bought new ones, I payed £40 for it then.

Now how do I find out what year it was made? as I have tried to find a website for the serial numbers but it says url not found..lol

Is that 'still plays - just; needs a clean & polish' or 'still plays; just needs a clean & polish'?

The school must have had reasons to sell it off & get new ones (In my experience even expensive private schools will not update their instruments unless they are well past their use by date. Except for pianos & the chapel organ!). Has it been serviced since you bought it 8 years ago? Artleys were never the best of student instruments. In my book the value is probably about what you paid for it.

Probably made between 1958 and 1959.
