Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite piece to practice on your flute?
Mine is Sonata for Solo Flute by Phillip Glass. It's simple and easy, yet sophisticated. I like it.

I would say, at this moment, that it's the "Pièce pour flute seule" by Jacques Ibert.
But it may change without any notice... :-)
If there is a window for another one, I would pick indubitable "Syrinx". A classic piece that seems so simple but hides so many possibilities...

I agree with Kara.
It's the one that I'm playing at the moment.
I prefer to have favorite tones. Right now it's the high E3...tomorrow it may be the high A3.

Right now, I love playing Image by Bozza. There are so many different ways to interpret it and abrupt changes in personality, so it doesn't get old.

It's natural to evolve the subject, but I think in this case the topic was about Flute Solo pieces only (without any accompainment).
In this direction I would join Patrick and point also the Partita by J.S.Bach. It's very difficult to play fully and well this piece. Demands many aspects of the flute technic and lots, lots of expression.<Added> sorry "accompaniment"
