It's a Gemeinhardt(not sure of the exact model), open hole, inline G, B foot, solid silver headjoint, silver plated body, you know, the works. haha. I honestly don't understand what the big hullabaloo is about over Gemeinhardts. I think this flute is amazing! It plays beautifully and wow, what a difference from my beginner's flute! My piccolo is a Gemeinhardt as well and I think it plays just beautifully, well as beautiful as it can get with a piccolo.

Congrats! I too, like gmeinhardt piccs. In my opinion, they manufacture some of the better lower end piccs out there. I'm not crazy about their flutes, but its great that you found a good one.

I love Gemeindharts too! I played on mine for four years before I switched brands, and the only reason I did that was because I needed a step up and the Gemeindharts available were too pricey.

that is wonderful that you are so happy with your new flute. dont read too much into brands. so if if happens to be a gemeinhardt and you love it then it doesnt matter what others think.

That 'tis true. I went to the music store today to try out some flutes. I tried out some extremely high end yamahas and some Haynes Amadeus flutes, but you know what? Not one of those $2000 dollar plus flutes played better than my $800 dollar intermediate emerson.

They are decent flutes. But the problem is that the rest of the industry has evolved and moved forward while they've literally been stuck in a same-old-thing time warp. So almost every player out there that has moved to semi-pro or pro level just doesn't think they measure up to the new stuff.(which they don't to be honest)

That said, they are decent enough for normal hobby or school use. And pretty decently priced used, at that. It's kind of like hearing two rich people arguing over which Rolex is best sometimes. If all you need is a simple Citizen or Seiko, it's really not that important.

I have to agree that the difference is not THE flute, but the combination flute+player. I like to compare it with riding horses. There is no good or bad horse, but there are good pairs...
