I once had a Yamaha 21s bought in 1978. A very good flute for the purpose of this instrument. It had off-set G and Split E.
I imagine that the 26s is an upgraded model, perhaps newer than mine, which might have quite the same characteristics.
Is there any picture of it on ebay? You may identify the Split-E mechanism by looking the photos.
About being or not being a good flute, well it's really a lottery, unless you have the oportunity of testing before buying.

i tried looking in the photo but the photo is too low resolution to see it (its had to see the bar for the g# key) i have tried messaging the seller but as of yet no reply. i was hoping some one here had owned one or came across one and could tell me if it did.

Hi,

I am not a Yamaha expert. The person that was left the forum.

I have heard that the older Yamahas have some intonation problems. The newer models are better.

You might spend a lot of money getting the flute in playable condition.

Good luck.

Due to the age of the flute I would not expect it to have the Split E.

I would say that this accessory was not so popular back then but .....a quality technician could probably add the donut (High E Facilitator.)

Go to the Yamaha website and click on support, there is a email address to ask someone. Give them the Serial Number if you have it and they can tell you. I had a YFL 225 from a friend and my daughters grandpa bought it for $150 and then he had to pay $175 to get it in playing condition. It is really hit or miss. It is almost better to buy a new flute at the music store but check around for the best prices and pay with CC instead of renting, with a CC you only pay the Min payment if you want usually cheaper than if you rented. If my daughter likes playing after 1 year I will probably have him buy her a brand new Yamaha 221 or better depending on how much he wants to spend.

that is a very old model when they were not made as well. stick to the 225SII or 221 when yamahas production line started getting a lot better.

<Added>

no split e on that model.

Yes I think if anyone were getting a new flute it would come in very handy but due to the age of this flute, It may not be accurate. I'd still suggest that it more than likely doesn't have the split E.

the 26 is like the current 261,which doesnt have a split e.
if it was a 21 or 27(dont think they made those...) it would have a split e.

The auction for it finished but i forgot about it and didn't bid on it, it went quite cheaply but i would have been cursing because another better flute finish's on monday and is still sat cheaply so i am waiting for that one to finish to see if i can get that one.

the 26 isnt a newer version of the 21

the 21 to the 211 as the 26 is to the 261.
