My teacher who once used to be a flute maker told me that oiling is required for non quality flutes only.

High quality flutes only need care taking when you take them to different tempratures......

I am also playing the black 5 flute .

the black 5 /kali paanch refering to the 5th black key on on harmoniun/keyboard.

the keys being (| = hole close, o=hole open)

sa - |||000 (normal blowing)
re-||0000
ga-|00000
ma-000000
pa-||||||
dha-|||||0
ni-||||00
Saa- |||000 - same as 1st sa but blowing fast

The qn i had was -
can we just play 1 or max 2 saptak`s on a flute...is a flute not like a harmonium where u can play upto 4-5 saptak`s

welcome to the world of music which adds color to this world full enough with dirt........well first of all do not bother about doing anything great.....if there is anyone who knows flute nearby,take classes from him.....if not then initially just start blowing thru it and see how many tunes you can blow ( its very tiring initially,u keep blowing harder to get a note!! but thats the way) then u can start trying to play some hindi songs)) well i am just trying to play some hindi tunes...i started the same way...do inform about your progress..... i am still an infant......keep blowing....frustrations apart.
