I got my 711RBSO Jupiter Flute, solid silver (everything) on Dec 26, 2003 and I was wondering will it ever turn black? If so, how exactly does it turn black?

I polish my flute at least 1 once a week. And my head joint like everyday.

Im not exactly sure what causes tarnish... I think it was something like being exposed to moisyure or something... Are you trying to get that look or something?

i found out on the net that the blackish, bluish, purply tarnish is caused by exposure to sulphur. The sulfur comes from your hands ( ex. sweat), from stuff that gives off the stuff and from the air ( if it does contain any sulphur). Well that`s all i know.

i think anything that is made of silver can corrode; even if it`s only plated on.
