I have just recently decided to treat myself to a flute for xmas and was wondering what type of flute you would recommend.

I teach flute privately and during the day at my work so I know I do not need a student model.

Do you recommend open hole or closed hole?

Someone told me open would work well for me as I am a clarinet player as well and it would "feel" like a clarinet because of the holes being open.

Yes, I think a Open Holed Flute would be good for you. Especially since you aren`t looking into a student model and you`ve played and taught before. Hope this helps, and good luck in getting your new flute! Whatever one you chose.
