I just noticed that one of my mouthpeices is longer and thinner than the one I usually use. I played using the long one and the altissimo notes were louder and more "prettier" than with my short mouthpeice. However the chalumo (sorry I can't spell) notes were'nt as good as with my short mouthpiece. What mouthpiece should I use??
Luv always,

I like the Vandoren B45, but I also prefer the M13 on my Buffet R13. If you really love jazz, I have heard that the Vandoren 5JB Jazz Mouthpiece is really good. You can go to www.wwbw.com and either order their catalog or search their site for these pieces. They usually sell them for a little over half the retail price.
I decided to use the longer one (it is accually a B45) because my pitch is better and once I got used to it, my chalumeu notes are now better than ever!

It sounds better on the longer mouthpiece I think because it has more of an opening so more air can pass through it. Typically high-school students use a vandoren B45 of M15 mouthpiece.
