I had to buy a new clarinet after mine was stolen from school. I have been playing for 4 years, but when I took my new clairnet (Yamaha 250) out and tried it for the first time....it squeaked like you would not believe. I`m probably lucky the neighbors didn`t call the cops on me. Anways is this normal for a new clairnet? and what can I do to make it sound better? thanks for all your help!!

I don`t think it`s normal for a new clarinet. But, possibly for Yamaha?? I play a Buffet E-11 (that has serious problems w/ corks falling out) and it never squeaked constantly, just when my embochure (Sp?) was wrong or I was pinching the reed too tight. So, why don`t you check your embochure. Hope this helps
