I can reach high D (high high) with actually OKAY-ish tone! But thats on my clarinet xD. I'm afraid I'll squeak if I play it in my piece. D:

Ok...LOTS TO WRITE! First of all, i still need to get the part in Finale Notepad because the orchestra/piano part gets in the way, so I'm still going to need it. Transposing it from there is EASY!

Second, if you're going to send the sheet (btw THANKS A WHOLE LOT!) send it to my e-mail which is: Gordog209@hotmail.com

Third, the thread will be on instrument FAQs if you want to say that could help a lot of people on many different instruments. Very useful for band noobies and awkward notes rhythms and so much on. We can also help by people sending a sheet they are confused or are having a bad time in rhythm or notes whatsoever and play and post them in youtube. The thread will be on almost every instrument, for i play about 6-8 (to lazy to count them all).

Fourth (grrr on going onslaught!)- Im still confused how to PLAY the glissandi. It is a very awkward notation to the sheet. The first time i slurred it then it sounded wrong from the time i heard it on midi file from the song Irish Jig Melody from 8notes. So...a little more help please?

Fifth- Big offence! (JK) I am a guy, dude, man, hunk (lol), male, etc! Haha ill put a picture of myself on 8notes later on. It comes from my nickname in spanish..Gordo from when i was small, which hillariously means fat BOY. And note it is gordO not gordA, lol.

Sixth- Canadian, CONGRATZ! The highest ive gone with good tone is a Gb which is the first note of Earth Caoine. Ive gone higher before but the tone will always die out all of a sudden and the biggening note is a frightning sound.

Seventh- MusicPanda...are you talking aboue high soprano D or HIGH HIGH HIGH sopranino D? Sopranino IS a killer, without a doubt that i bet will leave a hige gash on your bottom lip and maybe even misplaced teeth >.<

Eighth- To double tounge take it sloooooowly at first. Start at a 64 or a little faster. Speed up whenever you think you can. Tounge with briskly a TUH-teh-ke-teh-ke-teh-ke, TUH is good. If you can't get the "ke" sound, play it a TUH-te-te-te-te... Just remember to start VERY slowly. And dont get mad at first, this could take about a year of practice depending on how much you play.

Ninth(hopfully last and happy im almost finished!)- What is the best kind of read for clarinet? I have tried Vandoren but i did not like it AT ALL! I play a 3 because the teacher wont get us any better ones and my parents don't support me so...you know.

Tenth- I THINK to make oboe reeds you'll have to have reed trimmers which can bought in SOME music stored. All the other things, i have no clue to get. Grrrrr...thats all and keep this post RUNNING! =)

Okay Thanks.

I have all my reed making equiptment, I just need my teacher to help me more on making reeds.

About circular breathing:
How do I start to circular breathe? I've heard a lot about the glass and straw method, but HOW?

About double tonguing:
Is the Kuh sound from the throat? I can do the simple single tongue, for the TUH sound, but for the KUH sound do I use my throat?

Yeah, you make the Kuh sound like that...KUH-nadian (smart, i never thought of that one). Oh i tried the the pitching the tone or glissandi but it just sounded like a long wail the dramatiscly turned sharp then i tried to play the note under it but there was still a big gap. So i tried sharpening the note then making the note under it flat but then i went to far or to low so there was either a gap or a repeated part so its very frustrating! I got it right once but i had to hold it as a whole note as 4/4 at 64, so it was very slow! I got it right only once, so more frustration! Stupid notes!!!!

I wouldn't want to be that Director. For 20 years, fortunately, I wasn't. When you're the Director, you're in charge- amoung other reasons, that's why they pay you. But, I also remember some similar situations when I played first chair clarinet in high school band myself 35 years ago (though not as bad!). Best advice if you wish to pursue music as a career is to get private lessons. I don't mean you should quit band (though I may if I were in your place). But do keep it in perspective. It's high school band, and the vast majority of members will do nothing with music after they graduate. Don't let it sour you on the clarinet playing and on music. I retired from teaching band 12 years ago and still play professionally and practise daily. It's been really great-- the teaching and the playing.

I sit second chair in the top band at my high school. The person who sits first chair is a senior and is going on only natural talent and it drives me crazy because I practice my butt off and take lessons! So when they graduate this year I get to take over first chair. I can't wait!!!

Haha. Natural talent isn't a bad thing.

ok first i am a flute player and i have been 1st Chair forever i too am a freshman and i hate other flute players good thing i am always first chair in all region and all state and my school band and most other bands i am in and i usually play the piccolo too in those bands and i always have a solo and it !***!es me off that the flutes try to play my solo and mess it all up but i know how you feel just tell the director that you believe that you are not being treated fairly and that you might even go to the administration thats what i did to mine and she straightend up. so just try it. and if that doesnt work just go with it and dont quit because i have been in your shoes and i know how you feel. just perservere and go on when you are a famous composer or director like i am going to be lol and they see your name on a program they will be like i wish i would have stayed in music and tried. so just use my awsome advice and go on with your life as a clarinet player. HAPPY HONKING. bye
