This is the age-old question. some say Leblanc's are better b/c they are better in tune and the keywork is smoother, Buffet b/c it has a charachteristic sound that one can't obtain from any other clarinet. Although the question ,for the most part, is based upon preference, i'd like to hear your opinion. I'm struggling to decide whether to purchase a Buffet RC Prestige or the Leblanc Opus 2 (possibly the Selmer Signature). Any suggestions???

I have a Buffet R13 and I love it! It was a huge step up from my intermediate level selmer! I know a lot of amazing clarinetists who play on Buffet, but I also know of a lot who play on LaBlanc! I really think it depends on which one you like better!!

Try them. You can't know which you like better until you try them. And, it really doesn't matter what we like...It's your money and going to be your clarinet!
Get to a music store and ask to try some clarinets out. Put them through the paces and keep a mental list (Or even a physical written one!) of what you like and dislike about each. Tuning? Tone? Mechanism? Features? It really all depends on what you prefer and what you sound best on. Don't rush the process...New Clarinets are a lot of money, and often long term investments. Take your time and choose wisely.

I have a LEblanc Cadenza and my friend has a buffet R13. We both found that we like everything about both of them. it jsut depends on preference. She likes my key set up, I like hers. I like my tone quality, she likes hers. They're both great, it depends on personal preference

I have a Buffet from 1967. I LOVE it. It has a nice warm tone. I'm not as familiar with the more recent models.

I'm a Leblanc\Noblet' man myself. Why, you might ask? Well like the late Paul Newman said about his marriage, I feel the same way about my Noblet Paris.. "Why fool around with hamburger when you have steak at home?" Go with the Leblanc, you won't be disappointed.
