Hey does anyone play a Buffet Oboe? Or know anything about them? If you do play one, do you like it? Is it good? I'm thinking about buying one, and I can get a REALLY good deal on it, so I was just wondering if anyone had experience with Buffet Oboes! Thanks!!!

You may want to try the Buffet Greenline oboe. It's supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't tried one myself.

I have a Buffet 4052 with 3rd octave key. It makes a very nice tone for a student oboe. I find that it has good key work and a very rounded sound. I am upgrading soon to a professional oboe but the buffet oboe was a great one to give you the feel and ease of transition into a profesh instrument.

I have not played a Buffet oboe, but have heard they are "sweet" toned and the craftsmanship is great. However, I would always to advise you to look into F. Loree oboes, I love my Royale, and I feel they are the best in the world. I am going to make a note to try some Buffet oboes at this summer IDRS convention in Itheca. Good Luck in your search.

I have been playing a Buffet profesional oboe 3613 for the last year or so. It is not a greenline but a but a grenadilla instrument. I have owned a number of oboes - chauvet, barret(laubin), Laubin rosewood and a loree. The buffet is a beautiful instrument - sweet toned, great scale and the keywork is exceptional. The instrument I own has gold keywork and it is just beautiful. If think it would be very much worth while trying one if you are interested.

I haven't played a buffet, but I currently play a Fox 300, and have played on a Covey and Loree oboe. All three are great, and my favorite is the Covey, then my Fox, then Loree.
