hey dunthinkursosmart,

Yeah I am degrading oboists who march. Look at professional oboists.......they have never marched. Really? marching with an oboe would be ridiculous. Do you march with an oboe? I bet it doesn`t sound that good- first of all you are trying to match up sound with all the clarinets and all the brass. Also, if oboe was banned from orchestra.......that would be one sad day. So you might think me an a$%hole but it doesn`t matter.....we are all open to our own free opions.

about whether oboist`s should march

ourselves??
there r too few oboist in this world for us to argue with each other.

hey. wow, i honestly didn`t even know that people marched with oboes. i always imagined myself marching with an oboe and turning blue on the street hehe. i agree though, i think oboes should stick inside. oboes have a beautiful tone to it, and marching band is just harsh brutal and loud. oboes are just, very delicate and fragile to be outside, both the instrument and the sound. i suggest playing flute or something.. i play flute in marching band(parades) and the fingerings are surprisingly very similar..some of them. i also play marimba during pit on the field. wow, i just can`t imagine an oboe out in the cold producing marching band music. wow...
