If you are looking for a good professional oboe, try out a Patricola. They are comparable to Lorees, but not as expensive.

Ive played oboe for 5 years now and have made it to the texas tmea all- region orchestra and all- region band and let me tell you that I played on a yamaha 411 (really crappy school -owned)that I made it at the audition. Ive played on a buffet 4052 and i was ok. I am really looking for my own oboe right now so any offers will be greatly appereciated. Ive also plaeyed on a selmer 101, but those oboes end up being a peice of crap now a days

Go for a Renard line of oboes by Fox, or a Loree, if you can afford it.

btw, a wooden oboe sounds richer, but a good plastic one (like a renard) is good too. Also, it depends where you live, since I heard dryness isn`t good for wood instruments. (Although I live in Miami, so I don`t really know for sure.)

Lots of kids looking for oboes. I`m an older adult who got fairly proficient on a 1973 Laubin. I`ve always wanted a Loree, but could not afford it. Any chance left out there? I also heard that hand weakness does well with Rigotaut-keys closer together. I`m in Jersey-Phila. area. Thanks!
