oboes sound beutiful.... whenplayed good, only a few of the oboe players in my band soung good the rest HORRIBLE thats why everyone hates the oboe but not me

The Oboe picks the player....takes a certain type of person. Usually we are a bunch of weirdos who will spend many hours laboring over one reed and trying to get it to sound perfect. I play the oboe because it is a beautiful instrument and if played well it can bring you self-satisfaction. Same with any other instrument.

oboes ARE beautiful instruments!
i have to deal with people calling me a clarinet or bobo the hobo oboe every day
it SUCKS but im the only one in our band who can play the oboe

The oboe was the very first instrument i ever played, of course i started on the sof t fibercane pre-made reeds, making an aweful honking like sound, so i gave up on it for a while, then i picked it up again and progressed to a much harder Hand made reed, they have improved my tone so much, the more effort you put into the better sound you will get. there are two Oboists in my band, me and the other have both reached the level of a beautiful oboe sound, so i completely disagree with your opinion of oboes.
BTW, i dont think it was wise to be bashing the oboe in the section of this forum where Oboists like to hang out

the oboe is off the rocka you just have to have commitment and be willing to sound like crap for a little bit i am in junior high and i guess being different is the style because most people come and ask me do i think they could play oboe because they like the sound other than that i just have a problem with people calling it a clarinet that p!sses me off

Maybe you feel that way because you cant play it? cuz I know once a person picks up the oboe and realizes that getting a sweet mellow sound out of it takes time, they throw it down and pick up a clarinet or a sax.
