The oboe is in fact very difficult to learn and get used to, that is if you don`t work w/ it.

If you are willing to commit your time in learning the oboe, then you will experience the role of a true oboist. Oboists are rare and that`s why you have to practice! Try and make the oboe a more popular instrument than the flute or sax. [Which are by the way, over-rated.]

It`s HARD work but it pays off. I`ve been playing the oboe since my 6th grade year and I am now a freshman/9th grader in high school. [I have taken private lessons most of the years and I`m told that I have a beautiful sound.]

An oboe does not make a noise, it makes MUSIC! Overtime, you will develop that beautiful sound as well. Some people can achieve it within a shorter period than others, it`s all right. Jusr remember to WORK, WORK, WORK! [Get some inspiration... when you watch movies, listen to the music. You usually can hear oboes in the score and it`s such a wonderful sound. Try Shrek 2... or etc.]

Work hard, don`t give up, practice and SUPPORT your air! [With your diaphragm rather than your lungs. Don`t get my words? Ask your teacher then.]
